Anyone got an Amazon Kindle?

The iPad has some AMAZING potential for music creation with stacks and stacks of BRILLIANT apps floating around. I <3 my iPad. Battery life is mega. Watching shit on it rules. I can wirelessly stream video content from my desktop to the iPad for watching in bed/elsewhere in the house. I buy issues of 2D art magazine on it which are awesome to read and view on the screen. I sometimes edit simple videos on it by transferring stuff I shoot on my iPhone (USB photo connectivity kit). I use it to check out photos taken on my digital camera (SD card photo connectivity kit) while I'm out and about if needs be. I write blog entries on it with the WordPress app while I'm at work sometimes and let them publish when I hit wifi next (I don't have a 3G one).

There's an ARSELOAD of useful ways to use the iPad if you do actually want to use it as a tool and not just a big iPod. The potential is massive.

The most confusing accessory I have yet seen for the ipad is the folio style cover that has a built in bluetooth keyboard.

I thought the point of an ipad as a tablet pc was to have something small and portable you could easily interact with without need for peripherals.

But yes, they are a good idea.

I like the idea of it for watching movies in bed and shit, but beyond that, I guess really I am not tech savvy enough. I guess if I had my own business or some such I would have a million and one uses out in the field, make researching parts and shit pretty easy, but then I would probably go the toughbook tablet thingy

On ebook readers, I think I'd have little use for one at home, but they'd be excellent when travelling.

My Kindle will be arriving tomorrow or Tuesday. Already stocking it with free books from Amazon (those in the public domain, like). Weeee.

That looks pretty sweet. How'd you find out about that one?

The free books you can get for ebook readers would be enough to keep me going forever.

It was free shipping when I ordered, that promo was supposed to end on the 12th but I still got free shipping clearly on my invoice so maybe you can stil get away with it. Otherwise it's normally $28.

OK, may have to give it a pass but is tempting.
Another useless toy for me to play with.

Am wondering if it has a build in web browser or you can download Firefox or the like to it?

Yup. A bit annoying that there are quite a few books I can't buy because I'm in Australia. Something about digital rights or something I guess.
