The "loose, rattly" thing comes from new strings being played HARD with a pick.

A low tuned jazz bass with fresh strings. Fairly easy to achieve.

What stops you from trying it on bass? Just because it isn't made specifically for bass, it doesn't mean it wouldn't work on it. After all, POD wasn't made for faggy metalcore and 808's werent made for subdrops.

Sometimes, all it takes to dull a set of strings is an hour or two of playing. I do plenty of sessions where we change strings every 1-3 songs depending on the player. Just food for thought.

I believe the person who made the X30 ampsim is releasing a Sansamp emulator soon, I suppose we will just have to wait!

Sounds like they used a POD on the bass grit. You can hear it on the guitars - they are flat and lifeless as hell.
