Just curious to know if anybody has listened to it yet, as it is a lot different than the last 3 albums. IMO, I would call this their Ride The Lightning. The 2nd track has an almost Nightwish style intro, the 6th track is the usual slow song, but othe songs have more mid tempo to slow and some blusey like clean tone solos and picking parts. It's almost like they said "Ha, we can play this way too!!!!" A very good album, must buy when released.

I can't imagine the whole album sounding different from their "this-sounds-like-everything-else-we've-done" new track posted on their Myspace.

I liked them when Valley of the Damned came out, but they've not strayed from their formula one bit and have staled to the point of being boring to me now.

If they did less of their trademark squeals this would be a decent album. Definitely more 'slow' solos/songs though.

LOL J-Dubya I did the same thing.

Hey Dragonforce! Pony called, he wants his 1 trick back.

(Different? LOL ok)

I gotta be honest here, if you think UB is anything like the previous albums you are completely blinded by your dislike for the band :)

I have to be totally honest, I haven't listened to the new songs, nor do I intend to. I owned their previous effort for awhile and it turned out to be a coaster for me. If that makes me closed minded, oh well...(shrug).

Yes. It's boring and doesn't really offer anything new to the table.

It has newer elements in their sound, but nothing really too drastic.

I used to love Dragonforce back in the day when they first started out (during my power metal love era), and will still listen to their albums once in a lifetime. However, for the most part, their songs are all the same crap over and over and I lost my interest for them simply because of their inability to progress. (And I don't mean that in a prog-metal way lol)

So by that logic, you no longer listen to Angra either?:heh:

No you didn't....

Come on now dude, how can you even seriously compare it?

If you think Angra hasn't progressed in years, either you have some sort of hearing problem or you're missing what "progressing" means. I will say that Angra's last album Aurora Consurgens was subpar in my opinion, but Temple of Shadows (the one before Aurora) was the prime example of progress in the music. Angra brought so much new stuff into that album (be it musical styles, instruments, influences and ideas), it's a huge leap from the previous one Rebirth. Again, they didn't progress from Temple to Aurora, but I can guarantee you they've done it more than Dragonforce EVER will (aside from progressing financially, hahaha).

You could say that about numerous other bands here that people love and have played the fest.

Stratovarious comes to mind right away.

Yep.

Power metal isn't a genre that comes to mind when I think about "progressing your sound."

Hell, even some non-power metal bands, like Amon Amarth, do the same thing album after album. But they still kick so much ass.

Absolutely!! This is a point that seems to be lost on many, or just ignored for the sake of being able to routinely crap on bands.
