Anyone selling Pod Farm?

Price! :D

Hmm, true, but I've also gotten some lead sounds I'm happy with out the Line 6 software, and more importantly I just know it really well so I like the familiarity. Also, I wanna try it on bass! (when I get one :erk: )

Oh come on, man, you know better than that :p The free amp sims + impulses + free effects are going to sound WAY better than any POD... and be... well, free :D

For bass I just use ReaGate, ReaComp, ReaEQ, Voxengo Boogex with a bass cab impulse and some tone tweaking, and then another instance of ReaComp/ReaEQ. Sounds great to me

But, does the Pod Farm sound like a real POD?

Now THAT is the real question!
hahaha
but in all seriousness
I think any of the line 6 stuff can sound decent in most hands
but for those few extremely experienced pod users (i.e. Joey)
the pod beats out anything else I've ever heard excluding the real deal.
And even then, the pod isn't so much worse than the real thing
just different.
I'm satisfied with my Pod/Podfarm:)
It just took some time to figure out exactly what makes it sound good and somewhat realistic:kickass:

+1 yep i think pretty much the same, i think too many people are stuck on the notion that pod farm or whatever doesnt emulate an amp perfectly, where i just see it as something different sounding, a sound i quite happen to like

well there is 2 versions, one is if you have their hardware, and one if you have an ilok, but i dont think you will be able to get the free version through x3 and then use it with ilok as it licenses it to the devise rather than computer as far as i know

PodFarm Platinum is sooooooo worth it!

as soon as i heard Joey's work on the last Devil Wears Prada album i was sold.

fair enough it was pricey, but im using it on absolutely everything now.

Kjaerhus Classic series effects? Free, and its got Flanger/Phaser/Chorus/Delay/Reverb...

having used the Kjaerhus Classic effects for a long time, i can safely say that the PodFarm effects kill them, stone dead.

With X3 anything, you get PODfarm for free and it uses your X3 unit as the dongle, and you can use PODfarm standalone on your computer.

With XT anything, you can get PODfarm for $49 and it uses your XT unit as the dongle, and you can use PODfarm standalone on your computer.

With an iLok, you can get PODfarm for $100 and it uses the iLok as the dongle, and you can not use PODfarm standalone on your computer.

If you own an X3 and you get PODfarm, then get an iLok, you can not use PODfarm with the iLok from the X3 license. Same with XT. Likewise, you can not get PODfarm for your X3 and then try to use it with your XT. You get one license and it is stuck on that unit, whether it's X3, XT or iLok.

Waste of time buying PODfarm to use with iLok when you can buy a POD Studio GX for $100 and get the PODFarm with it.

Hell, I bought a Toneport GX ages and ages ago for about £50 at the time and I got to use PODFarm when it came out, and still do for that matter.

To clarify - you do not have to purchase Platinum for iLok, there is standard and Platinum versions for iLok. It seems Platinum is the same price either way for any dongle you are using, but standard is $49 with Line6 units (free for X3 users) and $100 for iLok users.

I'm sorry, you misunderstood me. What I meant was that if I want to buy Platinum on the Line6 website, I only see it available for iLok.

Regarding purchasing Pod hardware, Pod Farm and the extra packs - I think it would be cheaper to just buy Platinum, correct me if I'm wrong?

That's interesting to hear Egan, since I remember at one point you sang the praises of having a dedicated hardware modeler rather than relying on software ampsims (how does "modeler" only have one "l", btw?

True, and I still don't want to boot protools to play guitar but I've found the plug-in to be valuable for all sorts of things and it definitely lends itself to pretty deep tweaking (fake multimicing using the dual tone etc.)

digital - iLok/regular PODfarm is cheaper than going line6 hw/model packs/podfarm, sure, but not with Platinum. I mean, you can get an XT bean on the used market for about ~$200, without packs. Then the packs are $50 each, or I think there is a bundle deal of $150 if you get everything in one shot. So we're already at least to $250 if you just get the Metal Shop pack, or $350 if you went nuts. Then you still have to buy PODfarm which is another $50. So, $3-400 later, you have the same shit, lol. Whereas with an iLok (~$40), you can purchase Platinum for $300, so you have spent $340...wait, it's the same? ;) With an X3, it's free, but you are looking at about $300 on the used market, so that's done and done compared to the other routes. If you get something like the TonePort or whatever incarnation is out now of it, it's the cheapest route.

PODfarm for iLok, $99
PODfarm Platinum for iLok, $299
PODfarm for XT users, $49

Platinum for XT users I can't be arsed to find ATM

It really comes down to what you want/need. Like I said, I was going the iLok route originally, already had an iLok so I would have been out only the $100 for getting regular PODfarm. I'm not worried about model packs and shiz right at the moment, personally.

I'd also like to add I think it's funny we're having a similar conversation between two threads haha.
