Im gonna be producing with a girl in the NY/NJ area and we need to book a studio for 14 days that's equipped decently and that has a great vibe and price.

I would think you go to trax east b/c you want Eric Rachel and not b/c you necessarily want that room. Opinions may vary though. I'd check out Big Blue Meenie too.

here's the other thing.

i don't need an engineer. we want 14 days for writing and recording. I need a room with instruments and maybe an assistant for the first 2 days.

For real though, just stay downtown or in the ironbound district. Try to stay in at night unless you want to get banked on and your shoes stolen. Newark and the surrounding areas are about as bad as it gets around here and Newark specifically is probably the most heroin abundant place in the US. There's a reason they call it Brick City. You should be good though. Union City actually has some studios (not that I can think of off the top of my head) that my old band has practiced at so maybe check around. Then of course in NYC but that'll be way more money just by location.
