Apple TV

anyone else got one?

i've had one for probably about a month and love the thing. got handbrake working nicely, and metax seems pretty decent for tagging film's etc. could be a nice thread to discuss related things....

also, using an ipad as a remote is ridiculously cool.

will probably pick up the 1080p one when its out even though I dont even own anything in that higher resolution!

I don't have an Apple TV, but I recently received a Roku XDS as a gift and it's a pretty cool device.

yeah since they dropped the price it was a no brainer. so much better just streaming from your existing itunes network.

wish i changed the settings on handbrake for some of the movies (get weird distortion sometimes on dark scenes) but generally getting the hang of it!

Don't the Roku boxes offer quite a bit more for about half the price?

yeah... but i guess it depends on your library.

i own a ridiculous amount of itunes content that is sync'd from a drobo (multiple network drives) in my house and we just keep adding content everyday. plus my gf and i each own ipads and iphones and you can "airplay" (stream) your content to your tv. so i guess the obvious solution was apple tv (for me).

but the alternatives are sweet as well (and probably a lot cheaper). :)

EDIT:

i forgot to mention that one cool thing about apple tv is: say, my family and i go out for the night/weekend. and i take a bunch of great photos and videos of our blasty-blast! instead of everyone crowding around my tiny iphone 4 screen i can just select the airplay function to play it wirelessly to my apple tv on my 60" LED tv... (oh, in HD). muuuuuuch better (imo). :P
