Aquamarine

Nice, I'm glad they didn't drop the growls. I really dig Carmelo's death metal voice.

yeah Carmelo's growling is one of my favourites with Åkerfeldt's voices :headbang:
always wanted to growl like Carmelo :)

Acquamarine, ahhh  What a nice song! I haven´t got tired of listening it, over and over again. I don´t know yet what it says, but I love the part when Carmelo sings: "like the postwar..." Well, the whole song (or at least the first 1:07 min) is beautiful.

Hahahaha I cant believe it is actually exactly the part I filmed....I think I prefer the live version though :erk:

SO TRUE.
i am afraid i'm the only one who doesn't like the sample at all.i hope the rest will be different.

haha i bet carmelo or one of those guys got on here and saw jesters video and said lets make the sample the exact same section and length, just to fuck with us. if that is the case, i think thats pretty damn funny!! definitely something i would do, so im not too mad about it. I like the sample, and im getting the vibe like i will be enjoying this album much more than Opeth's latest nonsense (i cant stand the keys in the new music, and hate when he plays keys over the old stuff live)

I think the sample is very good; I need more now!!!
The sound quality isn´t as good as I suppose it could be, but I think it´s because we listen an mp3.

Man that's practically the same as Everasia with higher vocals! Haha. That first riff especially sounds just like some part of Everasia...

Fortunately Everasia is possibly the best song ever written.

Man, it took me approx. 1 hour for hearing only 1 minute and 7 seconds of a new song  Che ve possino...
But the wait's been worth while - I think it sounds half way between 'Homecoming' and 'Everasia' and the vocal line is MARVELLOUS! Will he ever be able to sing like that alive  ?!?

I'm in love with the one minute sample. TO me everything sounds alot better produced, although novembre never really needed great production. The drums sound like Lopez's from ghost reveries. Carmelo also definetly whipped it out, he's alot more present and understandable.

Conclusion: new album will give me a two week lasting boner.

I couldn't agree anymore with you man! ghost strawberries was an album I was expecting with great anxiety and as soon as they leaked the first sample, it was all down the toilet! I can't stand the production, the guitar sound, the over-compressed drums, etc... I could be here all day dissing it

Well, in my opinion, the new production sucks. I like how raw and alive their early albums sounded. This is just way too modern, but I guess the contract with Peaceville required it. The drums have no presence and sound thin. It's pitty, Giuseppe and Massimiliano made one of my all time productions with klimt 1918 - Undressed Momento at their own studio and now with a "known producer", they haven't outdone themselves nor equaled.

I agree with you, it does sound like Jen Bogrens productions, not just last Opeths but also last Katatonia, even the last of RWAV sounds like that (no wonder, same producer as the other two).

I am still hoping this sample is released from an eventual demo they recorded at their studio, like pre-production version.

Bah, go listen to Ulver - Nattens Madrigal and shut up. Novembre's current music is extremely layered and flowery and needs this kind of production to sound good. If it was raw it would just sound like shit cause the music itself isn't raw and has way too much going on to not sound like a disaster if produced poorly (like in the style of their first two albums). And Ghost Reveries sounds great to me.

EDIT: I just noticed the part about Klimt 1918 - that album sure doesn't sound very 'raw' to me! I guess you're right about it having a warmer sound, but I certainly wouldn't call it 'raw' in the least.

You definitely misunderstood what I meant by raw, not in the same sense as immortal or nattens madrigals or the kvlt trends of black metal. I meant just in the way their last 3 albums sounded like. They aren't bad, the drums are not hugely compressed and don't sound thin at all, they are very dynamic and alive. Lots of room sound. On the sample, they sound TOO triggered for my taste. It actually takes a bit of their "sound" away. Undressed Momento is one of my all productions favorite production, along with Deliverance of Opeth. I agree with the rest about you, but I had to chime in to clarify the issue.

EDIT: And btw, I know how triggered Deliverance was and that doesn't mean it sounds triggered. At least I can't tell it. In the end it all sums up to Tastes.

funny... i think deliverance is their weakest album, production-wise... it's all so thin if you really start listening to it. esp. drums....

novembrine waltz has one of the best drum sounds i've heard, imo :)
