Arcane Sun

Since I know nobody wants to burn the second Arcane Sun for me, does someone wanna host it or send it to me on MSN or something?

Man, finding the s/t in a used cd store for $10 CDN was a fucking lucky thing :)

I'd burn it for ya, but I don't have a burner. I'm sure someone would be willing to burn it.

$10 CDN, that is a damn good find. It use to be fairly simple to find, but the word got around UM (haven't seen other boards talking 'bout it) and now everyone seems to have gobbled (Thanksgiving!) it up.

Thanks anyways, I hope someone will! Non-metal is OK by me :D

I forget where I heard of Arcane Sun, but on UM it was not.

Yeah, J is the origin of all the copies of the second album around here. I really like it, especially track 2, but it's not as good as the debut which is one of the best albums EVAR. It was J too who I first heard about the debut from, so many eternal thanks to him!

They don't sound like Empryium at all.

I'm happy to send it to you. Hotmail has just changed to 250mb limit, so I could even e-mail it. Or MSN is fine. Let me know your e-mail.

EDIT: or I could just look in your profile. I'll send it later this evening.

I went searching for Paul Kearns' other vocal performances. I had heard he was in Eden Obscured, but found no output, and he also was in a thrash-like band, I believe, but again, no output. He also did vocals for a death metal band, Fifth DOminion, that released one demo. I saw on Metal Ireland that he now lives in Norway.

Feargal is doing his classical music thang, according to Metal Ireland.

I still love that Golden Dawn album and listen to it quite often. But yeah, I can see why you wouldn't be crazy about it, too much synth. A real through-and-through black album from GD would have been nice.

At least you didn't pay much for it, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, i'll agree that some of the synths are, shall we say, WAY out of place. And yeah, the sudden abruptness of going from really fast black metal to pure synth and then back again can get a little annoying. I wish he would have extended the black metal parts a lot more.

Still, I really enjoy the album, as it is somewhat of an original release (for 1996) and really hit the spot when I was in my OMG SUMMONING phase. GD's song on the ABMS soundtrack is more of a pure black metal song with underlying synth.

Arcane Sun album to be re-released
We will be re-releasing the debut Arcane Sun album towards the end of 2007 remastered and repackaged. The album was originally released by Ars Metali in 1998 and has long since been out of print.

announcement on Metal Ireland: http://www.metalireland.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18718&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

It doesn't go into too much detail, but Sentinel hints that perhaps "Fade" might be released as well.

It is a travesty that this band has been allowed to go so unknown for so long. I can't believe someone hasn't thought about re-releasing this album before now! I always thought that if I ever started up a label this album (and the follow-up) would be the FIRST things I tried to release.

Great, great album.
