ARCH ENEMY, DARK TRANQUILLITY, DIVINE HERESY, FIREWIND: First North American Dates

Oh GAWD! I'm sure if Firewind wrote some death metal, it would come out sooooooo damn good. A mix of epicness ala Bal Sagoth, technicality of Necrophagist, atmosphere of Nocturnus and bestiality of Kronos.

......

I think I wet my pants.

Gus, please write a death metal song! Even just one!

correct. wow! gus is singing death, hadn't seen that!! and he's very good actually! really good!

he just did the vocals at the beginning though, then they hired Tomas "Tompa" Lindberg for their first album. this video is the only 'trace' left of him singing (and perhaps some unknown demos).

BTW, have you heard their first album, 'sweet vengeance'? it's got a couple of excellent songs there! try and listen to 'the glow of the setting sun' and 'circle of pain'... omg, they're sooooo lovely (even though i'm not into death so much...)

circle of pain: (the guitar solo reminds me of firewind so much! well that's because gus plays it!!)

Ever hear of a little band called Nightrage? lol Gus used to do guitars & death vocals before Lindberg joined.

And Firewind is opening this tour. Divine Heresy (even though they suck) is way bigger in the US than Firewind.

Oh and Gus isn't in Arch Enemy anymore. :D

Oh I know Nightrage for sure, fuckin' love them. Oh, also briefly met Marios in Copenhagen since he was with Firewind. Heck, I'm probably the biggest deathhead in this forum and I pretty much stand alone haha. But what I meant, was I wanted the Firewind lineup to write a death metal song. THAT would be something really interesting.

Or maybe some black metal. After all, Gus contributed on an Old Man's Child song and Bob used to be in a black metal band (right?) and is good friends and directed a video of Rotting Christ, so it's not like he's sonically averse to that genre.

Oh I know. You don't have to tell me about Gus... I've been a fan of his bands for years. I have all 3 Nightrage albums. Great stuff.

:erk: ...

xx Kirsty

I also have the 3 Dream Evil albums he played on as well as the 3 Mystic Prophecy albums he was on and every Firewind record except for the new one. What's yo probs?

we all know he played in nightrage, but now nightrage doesn't play here, it's firewind..

I wasn't sure since everyone on here was like "OMG WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF GUS WROTE A DM SONG?!".

Um, no 'probs'.

Most people on here have all the aforementioned cd's or have heard them. And as for the second part directed at Eddie, well, Gus left Nightrage in what, March '06? His musical tastes were never particularly of the death genre anyway and his musical influences have obviously changed (as does everyone's be it for better or worse) in 2 years. In those 2 years he's done 2 albums with Firewind. But different from Nightrage.

Anyway, Nightrage were a bit melodic to be classes as pure Death Metal. I believe most people on the forum (although by "everyone" I have no idea who you are referring to) who said 'death metal' I think meant a band like Devourment, Infernal Revulsion or Degrade just as a few bands off the top of my head.

xx Kirsty

Devourment haha. Gus writing slam-death, that would be interesting for sure. And yes, since I was one of the people who said "how would it be", Kirsty got it on the money. I meant the really brutal stuff.

I just saw them for the first time in September but Apollo wasnt there so I have to see them again. Plus, havent seen Arch Enemy in a few years.

mmmmm arch enemy, dark tranquility, firewind. who cares if firewind is the odd man out. they all rule

I havent heard any divine heresy.
