ARCH ENEMY, DARK TRANQUILLITY, DIVINE HERESY, FIREWIND: First North American Dates

Ahhh the Black Crusade.

I missed it in Sydney last year (Trivium, Arch Enemy, Machine Head), id already seen Trivium in January, and the other 2 arent really on my 'to see' list.

see, the stupid thing is, i went to two dates, effective access all areas for both, the first one i only saw dragonforce play, the second one i saw all of DF's set, and only a few songs from each of the other bands... still, both were immense nights so i can't complain, and the few songs i saw of all the other bands were great

After the Black Crusade in Milan, I chilled with Fred (and Sharlee but he stayed for just an hour) for a good 2 hours at least, drinking heineken and Grey Goose haha. We talked about so much crap. At some point, we even got into a "heated" discussion about which part of France is better (he's from the North, part of me is from the South) haha. Hilarious guy.

Oh and carissima, where were you at the Megadeth show?

aye, fred's great, well they all are. after their set i was sat in their dressing room listening to him, sam and herman discuss their plans of 'attack'. also known as 'hitting on fans'

oh and sharlee? is he the guy from arch enemy, long curly dark hair? gap in his front teeth? if so he's a star, love that guy, such a sweetheart

Yeah, Sharlee is the bassist. Hilarious guy.

Haha, the venue in Milan is right next to a club, and so there was a steady flow of very attractive ladies coming in and out of the club and Fred was like "Quick, teach me some Italian that I can use on them!" haha

Haha he even added "Hey, next time we come back here, come backstage right after the show and we slip out to go to the club" hahaha

yeah they are great guys and they do truly love hanging out with their fans.

made me laugh in glasgow, me and vadim were sat facing the queue before the gig started, i think only one person person recognised him, and he wasn't confident enough to come up and say hi.
later there was vadim, me and Johan their cameraman, walking around the crowd, interviewing people about the bands. one lass was slating DF, said she really hated them, then someone recognised vadim, this girl asked me if he was in the band, i said yes, instantly she was all over him, suddenly loved DF.... and all this in front of a camera. haha

Haha yeah, I love bands who just love to hang out. Well, I also have an advantage here, because the level of English of the average Italian isn't actually advanced. I'm also the interpretor for my friends when we meet with bands.

I hope that stuff will be on a Dragonforce DVD haha

haha yeah me too, would be great to see it again, and some of the backstage banter was funny as hell, if i remember rightly there's gonna be some DVD footage on the re-release of Valley of the Damned, so maybe it'll be on there

and yeah, it's always good when bands WANT to hang out with their fans. firewind are great in that respect too.

so if i ask you how come you live in Italy and yet speak great English, is it going to be a story that takes hours to tell?

haha Chris is a great guy. I was also pretty happy to finally see him live, since I never got the chance to see him play live with Nevermore. That guy is just so damn good on the guitar.
