Arcturus

The Sham Mirrors was a very hard album to follow up, mostly because of the high energy in the music that hit you hard with the melodies and unforgettable moments. Sideshow Symphonies not only had a change in singer (never mind that singer being Garm) but also seemed to change their musical approach as well. Regardless I love both albums and both offer very different emotions and feelings, excellent band.

Their new live DVD, Shipwrecked in Oslo, if fantastic. Simen's voice is unreal so to speak. Listening to Chaos Path live gives me chills evey time.
Buy this DVD and get live versions of 18 amazing songs.

i really enjoy simen's vocals (and garm's as well, of course) on la masquerade, but can't really get into sideshow symphonies. i have sham mirrors but have only listened to it once or twice.

garm obliterates simen, although its 2 different approaches. but simen is a one trick pony...which is that croony operatic thing (which is good, listen to "colossus" for obvious reasons). but i think garm is much more diverse, talented in a more broad way, and frankly was the more appropriate and sinister of the two arcturus vocalists. same with borknagar. he makes vintersorg seem like a retard.

I read in an interview with Garm where he said that Simen is a better vocalist than he is. But yeah, I enjoy Garm's singing more than Simen.
