If you get one that's not, the firmware upgrade to version 2 is free as long as you can use USB to connect to a computer with an internet connection. Once you've got v2, you can buy Metal Shop, Collector's Classics, and/or FX Junkie. Metal Shop is the vital one, but the Boost+EQ and Tube Driver in FX Junkie (plus some of the cool modulation and synth effects) are good to have as well, and if you buy 2 at once, you get the third free.
I got the PODxt Live when they first came out and it comes *with* the FX Junkie pack...although it's $100 more than the bean xt, it's just more convenient to already HAVE that pack. That way all I bought was the MS pack. I like the Live more anyway, just more fun to use I guess. Yeah, all upgrades besides the amp packs and such are completely free from Line6.
