Arise and Purirfy

This song is fuckin sick. I woke up hungover and anxious and I started streaming this song... It turned my day around. I have so much faith for Sancuary's new album. I'm buying a hard copy as soon as I can. Yes, my car still has a casette and CD player.

as I said I can only listen to the right side of the mix due to my shitty speakers and laziness keeping me from going to the apple store but here are what lyrics I could make out of it. someone else can fix my mistakes.

We are unchanged
We are Forgotten
Born of the blessed and the sick
We are the Rotten

(Can't make out the lead in to this). Sounds like "Wonzzz". Worms again?
Trust in me, end all your sorrows
Count your blessings die tomorrow

Arise and Purify
Subjugate and Justify
Erase and adjudicate leader of the masses
Free the soul

They are the strange
Within the fallen
Born of the lecherous and sick
The plague is calling

Mind the rules that can't be broken
Through hollow days and words unspoken

Arise and Purify
Subjugate and Justify
Erase and adjudicate leader of the masses
Free the clones ???

Arise and Purify
Subjugate and Justify
Erase and adjudicate leader of the masses
Free the soul

Arise and Purify
Subjugate and Justify
Erase and adjudicate leader of the masses
Free the clones ???

Bolded is what I hear. Also, stop listening through shitty speakers. Audiophile headphones is the only way to listen to music (with a decent amp/audiophile sound card) when not blasting it in your car or at a concert.
Okay, not the only way, but the only correct ways.

Oh yeah, and if you aren't ripping all of your CDs into lossless files for your PC/MP3 player, the actual CD (as well as DVDs and Blu-ray) is also the only format to listen to unless you manage to snag a vinyl. Still having a CD player isn't a downside. Downloading songs or albums from the various MP3 stores usually ends up as shit quality anyway. 320kbps is absolutely the bare minimum ("CD quality" supposedly) MP3s should be, but the majority are less than that.

So Warrel... from a sexy metalhead girl's request... can I just get a "Hell yeah!" since you know you're gonna kick ass with this record?
AsylumAnomaly, you should hear that tune with headphones on sista, totally knocked my uterus sideways. Production is killer, hearing the man sing again makes me not like Kiss again... Again phh
I haven't seen the band live since April 18, 1988 here in Toronto....

See ya soon lol

The only 'Nevermore' in this song is Warrel.

Just have to tune out all the dumbass comparisons to Nevermore that will be emerging.

It's inevitable because Warrel is singing low and not doing the old Sanctuary caterwaul. The guitar parts are completely different, and not just because of 6 strings vs. 7. Thank God they didn't use Sneap, I don't like his mixes (bass? We don't need no steenkin' bass) and Jeff's constant chuga-chuga-chuga style is absent.

I've talked to a few former Nevermore members now and found out Jeff writes the drum parts and guitar parts together. Kinda surprising because usually drummers would push back and say don't tell me how to play my instrument. I suspect Lenny did what everyone else does: compose the song, record a demo to a click track and let Dave come up with his own drum part, just like everyone else does.

320kbps? My cats can't hear those Frequencies Kenneth. Read up about kbps.

This is actually not quite correct. Even Warrel said that one reviewer was claiming that this was the best "Nevermore" album since Dreaming Neon Black. And he didn't seem to find that to be an insult. If you listen closely, you can actually hear riffs that sound like they would perfectly fit on that album and the distortion is similar as well. Jeff didn't always use a 7 string with Nevermore until DHIADW right?

Chug a chug? You talking about his change to a more djent like style? Because this track has a hell of a lot of "chug a chug".

I really do not hear that much (old) "Sanctuary" in this compared to Nevermore and the solo stuff. I think the production and vocals are the largest factor, but definitely not the only. You can't really expect this to sound nothing like Nevermore at all either and not just due to the vocals. Didn't Warrel have less of an influence in the songwriting process during the early days of Sanctuary compared to Nevermore and now? If this track is any indication of the rest of the album, then calling it one of the best "Nevermore" albums is actually a compliment. Because what the fuck anyway, they released some of the best albums from 96 on. But anyway, Nevermore is pretty much defunct and we have an album released by Sanctuary, so technically this sounds like Sanctuary right?

You might have just lost too much of your hearing over time, because you can sure as hell tell a difference between 320kbps and everything below it. It's the bitrate (frequency and bitrate are not the same thing at all, and are more symbiotic) above that it becomes harder to tell the farther away you get, much of which has to do with the original recording in the first place, sample rate, and is mostly small nuances that you really have to be focusing on to hear. There's also a night and day difference listening with a pair of non K-Mart brand headphones between 320kbps and below. The better headphones usually amplify just how shitty most MP3s really are. Shit in = shit out. Songs in the studio get mastered at a specific bitrate. That's how the music is supposed to be heard. The only way to fit all of the information from a single CD track into smaller sized files (your average MP3) is through compression. And compression doesn't somehow magically retain the same fidelity as the original source. Some compression algorithms are better than others, but it's still compression and lossy.

A five second google would have told you as much...

Totally agree Taxan,
But being a guityrant myself, in the ol days of writing songs, you think riff, riff, riff and not leave space for vocals and/or vocal melody. Man, us coils (humanafalls) all have a voice, and understand language and words and.. (I've misused words in my passed drinking days here) Vocals/words are what people understand, we all have that understanding. Beatles for example... Bad example in METAL...
Bottom line, just as a fan, and trying to out cool everybody (I like there old stuff way better huh huh) A good song is a good song is a good song etc., your friends may say your out of the "Metal Club" A good song may it be it Hanson (MMMbop, song sticks in your head.) or....

Man I'm old lol! I remember first hearing Venom.... Nothing like that music then, NOTHING, out heavied yer sister even. Now seems lame to the younger crowd (those albums on import would cost here $42+), but back then... {Old Guy Goes Off To The Past Daze Zagain} First time hearing Queensryche E.P, Angelwitch, Metal Church, Witchfinder General, Saxon, Exodus, Quartz, Motorhead of course!!!, Tygers Of Pantang, E.F Band, Mercyful Fate, Slayer,Metallica demo,. and even my old band Piledriver..It was new!!!! We'd just wait to hear what is next... Metallica Fight Fire... Killed. It may not sound heavy in this day, but back then....

Shit... The hot chick want WD to say Hell Yeah

Sanctuary first week sales will be massive... #36+ on the charts...

/old man stories ov old days. Eldon Hoke may have been my dad...

As a young heathen, this song was so... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dgd37sa0xeA
To this day, I collect Nun Porn (before internet was a challenge to say the least)... My "friends" tell me they're not real Nuns :idiot Troy"... I laugh. (see what I done there)
I sit back and tell them on Easter, I fucked Jesus in his hand-holes, laughter stops.... Young heathen again!!!
