artistical question

It really isn't that much work to get yourself up to speed with the legal aspect of ownership, intellectual properties and such for your purposes (or at least get you to make sure you own your work and get credited as such)

That said, DIY ethics and ownership of your work are not mutually exclusive, in fact they are very much in line with each other. What's the point of being DIY if you don't get to keep your own stuff?

think about it: loss of artistic license over your own work quality seems totally NOT punk rock to put it in the most base form possible. you know?

i agree with that, but i think the opposing (?) viewpoint is kind of utopian/half-assed communist, where everything, including intellectual content, is globally accessible.

which then can extend to physical realms and issues/degrees of rape, i suppose.

let's face it, this guy is like a REAL LIFE idealist nor is he utopian in practice because... well because of his email and the tone. so the rest is moot.

sounds like a jerk to me.
as always when I hear about this stuff - i must reiterate that it's always good to get stuff in writing, no matter how casual.

I like working with Nick too - even though he isn't always super fast, I know it's because he's really putting thought and effort in his work. that's much more important to me than time schedules.

I'd be annoyed too. The art is yours and unless they had permission to alter it, it's wrong... and bad manners.

In some communities I joined, you can get banned if you alter icons without the creator's permission. Somehow this reminded me of that rule.

I'd be pissed off about this. Not sure about the legal aspects but I don't think simply giving you credit is legally enough. I think they need your permission. Of course the legal issue isn't what would piss me off though. I think if they want to use your shit in a modified way they should've asked you to modify it rather than do it themselves.
