Are there any videos of you playing drums on the web. Listening to your work in Borknagar, and Vintersorg, and of course Spiral Architect, I just get this terrible craving to see you play! All I've found is a video of you playing "Spinning" on google video.

I've got lots of video with me playing drums on different albums/shows. Not because I like to look at this incredibly handsome drummer but because there's always a possibility for a DVD somewhere down the road – and there won't be a DVD without footage... I'm currently working on a web project which will have some cool videos - and not only of me but some other well known Norwegian drummers too.

You can download the video from eMule (Spinning.mov, 13.8 MB).
I really like it because:

1. In the beginning (00:06), right after the initial bss-bss-ptabatabm-tapabtapabtapa-tsaam (pause)- Asgeir adds 4 blows on the hi-hat (or whatever that's called) before the technical part begins (sssssss.....tam-tapatam-tapa-tapatapadam...). I think it's really cool.

2. In my opinion, Spinning is the first song in this album for a reason. The intro is so aggressive... it's like "if you can tolerate this - fine. If you can't - get lost".
After all the initial mess they sort of trick the listener.. I'm talking about "Manipulate my mind, I don't mind...". For me this part is like saying "See we're really not that bad... we can do some 4/4 if we want to.. rock n' roll.. ACDC.."
But it's a trick.. a lie.. they go insane again. In the video Asgeir uses this cymbal (close to the camera) that makes it sound very rich (it has a "longer" sound).

3. He has all the time in the world.. he doesn't mind the complexity or anything. Has time to get his hair out of the way, to shift his drums.. I can't watch this without smiling in the end.

* Obviously I'm no musician, I can't play anything on any instrument. Face it gentlemen, my system for writing musical notes (bss-bss-ptabatabm-tapabtapabtapa-tsaam) outperforms the traditional one.

At least that system have more groove than a guitar tablature:tickled:

Actually my bottle of soda fell over some time during the first minute of the song so in the bass/ride break I bend over and remove the bottle which is annoyingly lying on both the hi-hat pedal and the left bass drum pedal. Of course I play the ride at the same time. Gosh, I'm good.

So humble as well...

Enlil is hired by me to make tabs of all the albums I've played on. The books will include CDs of Enlil making those sounds...
Huh, "hired by me"... A little blinded by success, aren't we.
You practically begged me to let you use my revolutionary (now copyrighted) system. All I asked for in return was a gig at the Apollo Hammersmith.. next time it won't be as cheap Mickelson. No more mr. niceguy.

And no you can't keep doing that while in the john. Those are "tabs for the thinking man", they should be treated with respect.
