At The Gates, help please

i was listening to them and im wondering what you all think, yeah they are cool but im wonderin about classification, i was listening to the title track of slaughter of the souls, and i was feeling old school death metal stuff like in flames? but kinda thrashy influences maybe, any help is much obliged, thanks

I think you have a pretty good idea of what their sound is. I don't own any of their stuff, but I have heard some selected tracks. Pretty good band.

NWOSDM (New Wave of Swedish Death Metal) I guess you could call it. I have a few of their albums and like them. The spawned quite a few great bands like The Haunted, Omnium Gatherum, The Crown, Mors Principum Est, Nightrage...to name a few. I'm really into this sound at the moment anyway. Good stuff.
