"An abandoned railroad tunnel is not far from that site. The New Haven
Railroad's former East Side tunnel, which begins under a parking lot
(R.I. Art Club) facing Benefit Street Between Thomas Street and the
former Benefit Street Armory is just a few feet short of one mile long.
The eastern portal is just east of Gano Street. It's hard to find, but
if you can find Engineers Field, you're close. Steel walls block entry
into the hole, but if you look closely, you'll see welded-on doors. Be
careful if you go inside though. Homeless people, and sometimes
dangerous people, are inside."
