attn: nick ooooooooo re: FITZCARRALDO

the backwards route is interesting--i guess it's less narrative, but i can see all the proto-stuff that comes to fruition in Cobra Verde.

i'm going to watch Nosferatu tonight. Aguirre was rented by someone else, bastards.

(and you also should've told me that Fitzcarraldo is twice as good as Cobra Verde)

i also didn't finish the last 40 minutes of Fitzcarraldo, so don't spoil it for me! i'm going to watch it when i get home. it was 2am when i threw in the towel because i started being unable to comprehend what i was seeing. also someone IMed me and my computer crashed and i didn't want to start up the DVD again.

ok, and i'm still incredibly confused: is the movie filmed in English or German? i switched between languages several times and i couldn't tell! in some scenes, it even looked like Fitz's wife was speaking English while he was speaking German, but in others, he clearly was speaking English ("pig" looks a lot different on the lips than "schwine").

is it possible there are two fully-discrete movies on the DVD, one filmed in English, one in German?

i'm so confused.
