you need to get on that son ...

first thing I would look for when i will eventually go house shopping ...

first thing ...

Honestly, this constant searching for the perfect solution is getting incredibly tedious and the fun is being sucked right out of it. I'm becoming more and more convinced that if you live with someone, or unless you have a huge house with a dedicated room, OR if you're Ken and can defy all rational logic, your serious music listening days are done. Am I wrong? Here's my honest run-down of when I listen to music:
1) when I have a day off and the wife happens to take all the kids when she drives the 1st grader to school. I can then put on some CDs and play them super fucking loud while I do housework and whatever. This could last for a max of a few hours but typically is only about an hour or two.
2) on an mp3 player when I'm working out...which at my current rate, is about 30 minutes a week. No exaggeration.
3) when we are all home, I sometimes put on some classical at a low volume
4) in the car on the way to and from work three, sometimes four days a week

That's it. I've looked at everything up to the $1500 range. I have another window pulled up right now that has reviews of speaker bars....SPEAKER BARS.
I am not joking about the Cerwin-Vegas. I am tired of looking at rinky-dink $1000 bookshelves that have "full range sound" (which is a ghey lie) when speakers like the XLS-12 are 3/4 that cost for about 1000 times the sound. Thing is, they are huge and stupid looking. I've invested in some nice furniture and I have a nice house, I don't really like the idea of putting two 100-lb speakers in my living room.

Complaint over.

Feel free to comment.

 @ if you're Ken

dude, I am in the same boat and pretty sure everyone else is.

I can't imagine when you would open up those Vegas? ...

get some nice Klipsch speakers ... they really rival Vegas in a lot of ways and look the part in a home ... they are super efficient (loud at low volume) , clear, full bass that goes deep.

is this Vega obsession some old college days dorm unfilled wish?

My bedtimes are entirely random. On Monday I worked from 0645...to 0230 TUESDAY morning. So I went to bed at 0330.
Today will be another 20 hour day.
But, yes, on typical days, I go to bed at around 2100-2200. There's no point in staying up later...the kids get up at 0600 and 0700.

they are super efficient (loud at low volume)

lol, you mean loud at low wattage.

I do most of my listening on my denon microsystem/sub in the living room in early afternoon (wife lets me crank it), on my headphones from my laptop after they all go to bed, in my truck at work, in my car, and the off times I actually get to listen to my fucking system downstairs besides when I am doing shit down there or getting ready in my bathroom.
