Michael Coppel Presents
THE VOICE OF SOUNDGARDEN MEETS THE POWER OF RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
Two of the most important bands of the '90's have come together to create the future sound of rock: Audioslave.
Audioslave features Chris Cornell, the lead singer/guitarist of Soundgarden on vocals, and Rage Against The Machine's Tim Commerford (bass), Tom Morello (guitar) and Brad Wilk (drums).
Coming together after the demise of their previous bands the members of Audioslave released their debut album late last year to an eager public, achieving both critical acclaim and a top 10 ARIA chart debut - with Australian sales now approaching 100,000 multi-platinum success threatens.
As Spin Magazine wrote: "The guitar playing on this record is blow-off-your-fucking-skull-with-a-ground-to-air-missile incredible ..Cornell meanwhile, still has the strongest rock voice in existence.."
Preceding the album was the first single "Cochise", named after the last great American Indian chief to die free and unconquered. As the drums lead into the searing opening guitar riff you knew all the anticipation had been worthwhile.
2nd single "Like A Stone" is to be released at the end of March and highlights Tom Morello's other-worldly guitars and Chris Cornell's unique voice - the overall result is both fresh and liberating.
Chris Cornell formed Soundgarden in 1985 and over the course of 12 years the group established themselves as one of the most influential of rock, selling over 20 million albums worldwide.
Soundgarden continued to release critically acclaimed platinum-selling albums as the music of RATM was creating a fierce and uncompromising meld of punk-inspired hard rock and politically charged rap. With the release of their self titled debut in 1992 the face of rock music began to change.
Responsible separately for some of the most groundbreaking music of the past 15 years, collectively Soundgarden and RATM paved the way for bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age and a generation of bands that followed in their wake.
Now Audioslave are everything you hoped they could be - and more. Experience Audioslave for yourself in April.
