Audix D6 vs. Shure Beta 52

Has enyone tried the Beta 52?
Your thoughts................
yep it is definetly a good mic. i think that audix nailed it with the d6 though. the d6 has to be the best mic going for a "new school" kick drum sound. the beta 52 would probably be second for me though. i think the thing is with the d6 you have to work on it less during mixing. it kinda just gives you that sweet kick with alot of attack and a good amount of bottom end to it. i think it really depends what you like though.

For kick? D6, hands down.

I've owned the D6, Beta52, D112, and RE20 and the D6 smokes all of them for a "modern" kick sound with very little fuckery in terms of placement and processing.

The Beta52, D112, and RE20 are all great on bass cabs, depending on what you're going for. Sludgy guitars, too.

I haven't tried the D6 on a bass cab yet, though. Hmmm.... Anyone?

I don't know about bass cabs, but I remember reading an article that Ben Grosse (working with bands like Alter Bridge and Sevendust) has also been using them on guitar cab with other mics.

I was gonna ask if anyone had been using them for guitars.

Someone should post a SM57/i5/D6 comparison. ;)
