Auto Racing

Le Mans is the only thing I give a damn about. And I don't follow it. I used to watch racing when I was in my teens. I'd watch everything on TV. NASCAR was more interesting then. It was also less popular. But now I can't sit there and watch any of it. NASCAR bores me to death now. I'll catch it everyonce in a while, for a little bit, but its not interesting anymore to me. I got into Drag Racing for a year or so. But then I realized how lame Top Fuel was. I prefer the amateur, drag race your own car, types of races. And they only show that once a year or so.

F1 was cool. I probably was most into that as a kid. F1/Indy. I loved the cars, and the racers. I rarely see it now though. Maybe its that I always feel like I should be doing something else when its on. But I think its that racing was great escapism as a kid, but now I use other things for that.

Big NASCAR fan here! Favorite driver is Tony Stewart, and Dale Jr by default (fiancee is a Jr./Harvick fan).

The company I work for has family/business ties to the Champ Car circuit, but I don't really follow open-wheel racing too closely. Just enough to talk shop with the boss on occasion.

I did race go karts against Champ Car drivers like Paul Tracy once for a charity event. That was insane, and cool to see how talented they are, even with a go kart.

Well, I live literally 15 minutes from the Bristol, TN race track, so I'm smack dab in the middle of NASCAR country! Oddly enough, I don't really follow it. I know enough to know what's going on, but I'm like Cherion, I just can't sit there and watch it. I used to follow it a lot in my teen years as well.

Can I crash at your place if I ever go to the races at Bristol? I'd buy you a ticket, naturally.:kickass:

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE F1 fan! Kimi sucks this season. But I will say, the F1 season has more interest this year than it has had in decades thanks to it not being dominated by the Big 4: Ferrari, MaClaren, BMW and Renault. For that at least I am happy about, but for it take 4 races in for Ferrari to get their first points of the season...WTF??? Current favorite Kimi Raikkonen, all-time favorite Alain Prost
Love Indy/Cart racing. I hated when they split this series into 2 different series. It really hurt the Open Wheel racing in the US by having all this racing with crap drivers that had no business being in the big time. It will take a couple of years to build back up the fan base since most fans defected to Nascar. No current favorite driver, all-time favorite Rick Mears!
I watched NASCAR as a kid, but recently, thanks to my wife, really got into it. Current favorites: Jeff Gordon and Carl Edwards.

I love all types of racing, especially NASCAR :

Favorite NASCAR Team - HENDRICKS
Fvorite NASCAR Driver - Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon
Favorite IRL Team - Andretti Green
Favorite IRL Driver - Danica Patrick
Favorite F1 Team - Ferrari
Favorite F1 Driver - Kimi Raikkonen (No matter what team he is with, THE ICE MAN RULES!!!!!)

All Time Favorite driver no matter what series - MARIO ANDRETTI he has raced them all and has won in all of them.

I'm a HUGE racing fan. My favorite driver is ME! I bought a Boxster last year as a work car that I can do track days with. I'm going to Blackhawk Farms with the Chicago Porsche Club on May 6. Can't wait!!!

I like everything that's not just going in circles. Actually, I like going to the local dirt track, but I don't do that much.

When I was a kid, I used to love F1 and Indy. That mostly went away in the 80s when the cars stopped looking so cool. My main interest is now sports car racing. We always have to watch a lot of TV before any of the big races because the DVR has to have enough room to store all 19 hours of coverage of the 24 Hour of LeMans and Daytona, or the coverage of the Petit LeMans or 12 Hours of Sebring. I watch them all. I like the American LeMans series the most. This year is kinda disappointing though because there are so few teams involved due to the economy. I also don't like that rather than changing the rules so other teams would be willing to take a shot at Corvette, they just let the GT1 class go away. I can understand why nobody wants to take on Team Corvette, but no GT1 class just sucks! Grand-Am is fun to watch too.

I've started following F1 again in the past few years. I was about to give up on it because it was so boring, but this year has been interesting so far. Having said that though, I see signs of it becoming boring again. Bahrain looked like a race from the last few years except different people were up front. All the significant passing was done based on pit strategy. Ugh. Hopefully things will be better in Barcelona. Vettel seems like the hot driver this year.

I used to be a big Ferrari fan, but I don't like them any more. Their drivers have been boring (personality-wise) for a while now, though I do like Massa. Lewis Hamilton is great, but I get sick of the commentators on SPEED gushing over him. I'd love to see an underdog team take everything this year (Red Bull, Braun, Toyota, BMW). I always root for Team India. I want to see them being competitive. I'm hoping this will score some points this year. I think Sutil has got the skills to get the job done if they could get their car just a hair more competitive. It's a lot better this year than last though.

My favorite race car is the most beautiful car ever built: The 1967 Gurney Eagle Westlake. (Here's a picture from a sim)

My favorite driver (really) right now has to Alan McNish - Audi driver for ALMS series. That guy is amazingly good, and he's pretty cool.

Earnhardt Jr. fan. Followed Dale Sr most of his career. RIP.

The first PP I came to, I flew to Dallas and I friend and I drove to Atlanta. We stopped at Talladega on the way for a tour of the Speedway-check out the Museum. While we were in the infield Sterling Marlin decided to take his car for a couple of turns around the track.

Someday I'll get back there for an actual race. Bristol is on my wish list too.

I grew up in Brazil, so I was heavily exposed to F1 as a kid... After soccer, F1 racing is the second most popular sport down there, it's a national tradition to watch the sunday morning races... I guess it slowed down a bit after Senna died and no Brazilian driver did that well after that (let's see how it goes for Massa)...

I rarely watch a race nowdays... Every now and then I will catch one by chance... but it's no appointment TV for me.

F1 fan.....hopefully Jensen Button can go all the way this season (he's had a great start). A few seasons ago he was really starting to show some promise and then Honda went and shat the bed and he was constantly outside the top 10. Just goes to show that a good car makes all the difference.

Oval track racing is a joke....makes for some good crashes though every now and then.

Went to my first IRL race at Chicago speedway last year. Had a blast, and Kansas was playing outside between races  Always have been a fan of racing but preferred the 1/4 mile over oval. Standing next to the track as the cars whipped by @ 210-215mph was quite an experience, and I hope to make it back there this year. Maybe even for a NASCAR race.
Edit: Got to hear Danica Patrick bitch a lot on the radio....very entertaining....

I used to love NASCAR until about 1998 then I lost interest. RUSTY WALLACE was my boy! The first race I ever went to was in June of 1994 at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA., which is about an hour from where I live. RUSTY WALLACE was on the pole, led the most laps and won the fucking race! I couldn't believe it! He won in a one lap drag race with DALE EARNHARDT, Sr. As much as I hated DE, NASCAR was never the same after he died.

You should go up to Road America and check out the June Sprints this year John. It's a good time because it's all amateur racers in all kinds of different cars. Plus Road America is beautiful!
