Anyone watch any sci-fi series on the Teeveeeee? I don't really watch TV except to get my geek on.

<3 babylon 5 and farscape

I tend to stay away from SciFi series because most of them are horrid.

also, season 1 of deep space nine ruled me

@ Doomy: Wimp! :(

@Cromeski: Just started babylon 5 today actually! That shit is bannaners so far, and Londo is the man for being a headonistic rapscallion. I love characters like that in any series. Like the Ferengi in star trek.

HELL YES GEEKDOME.

So far (i'm starting from the beginning) Bab5 suffers from Clerks syndrome. Great great stuff, with some WAY shitty acting at times. But you just ignore the acting and follow the story lines (i know thats very hard for some people). Farscape does slay. Firefly i gotta watch soon, everyone says its amazing and Serenity fucking slayed. Star Trek is awsome (except for Enterprise which is pretty much shite), ide say its TNG > DS9 > Voyager > Enterprise, then Original Series somwhere in the middle of that list when your in the mood. The original series movies are very kickass, though i like all star trek movies. omggeekmodemaximum.

EDIT: Does the acting in Bab5 get progressivly better through the series? Thats what I imagine and hope...but damn the characters are megacool and I love the idea of space stations (thats why DS9 is so sick).

Babylon 5 took me a while to get into, fortunately there used to be a time when SciFi Channel would play the show every day when I got home from work, and they played through every show in each season in chronological order, and then repeated it, and then repeated it. So yeah, after catching bits of it here and there, one day it finally hit me how awesome it was, and I was able to see through the whole thing in order a few times.

but Farscape owned me from the get-go. My favorite scifi series evarr

edit: as for the bad acting in bab5, yeah, its abundant, but a big part of it comes from captain so and so (whoever was in season 1) and when they get rid of him , the new guy does a better job, and the general quality of the show improves from season 2 on as well

nah, always to nerdy for me. though I thoroughly enjoyed Sci-Fi's miniseries' of Dune and Children of Dune. Superb job.

Dune is great. I don't watch sci-fi sceries, but I love games with a futurist concept and stuff. Starcraft, Homeworld and Freelancer FTW.

so what's the deal with this Firefly show, I keep seeing trailers for that movie which I suppose its related to, but like.. what channel and time and etc, if it's currently on tv .. ?

Babylon 5 is the best Sci-Fi show i've ever seen (and i've seen all the good ones).

Farscape rocked, but Babylon 5 had the better character development. The main selling point for me on B5 is how after watching all 5 seasons, you can watch it all again and stuff that you went... "WTF?" at before now makes sense, and you are totally awe struck by the in depth and twists in the plot you didn't notice the first time through. And yeah, Seasons 3, 4 and 5 are the best B5 seasons, especially season 4.

My favourite B5 character is G'kar, watch the show enough and you'll see why. Though the most drastic character fuckups are through londo. Watch and learn.

The new battlestar galactica is also extremely good, definetly up there in the top 3 sci-fi shows.

Deep Space 9 was alright, got pretty good for a while, but nowhere near as good as farscape (for weirdness) and B5 for plot and character development.

agreed with that, even though I've seen through the series a couple of times, I would totally not mind watching it a few more times, the in depth nature of it is just great.

I didn't particularly like season 5.... yeah, it had a lot of great moments, but overall it was a letdown for me compared to how each season before was progessively building in quality.

I wish Crusade would have been made into a real series, the few shows they made of it made it look like it had potential, especially the last few eps where you could tell an epic story arc was beginning to unfold, and then, it got cut :/

my entire comment on crusade:

GODDAM MOTHER FUCKING FRENCH FUCKING SHITFUCKS I WANT TO SKIN THEM ALL ALIVE.

and yeah, season 5 as a whole wasn't as good as 3 or 4
