Black, progressive, and death all rolled into one. I think Antichrist is their best album, so things like that... They're one of my top 5 and I can't find anything that even resembles them. I am looking more for the musical style than lyrical content...

anyone ever see the irish interview with two band members? hilarity!
as for the band, i enjoy the hell out of em. maybe its because they dont posture like the majority of the tough guy knuckle draggers that their music has similarities to. the progressive pieces and clean vocals add an effective sound to their music. Choronzon is the their best, with Antichrist behind it.
as for similar bands, i dont know of any. gorguts is kinda similar and better. Mithras have a progressive edge in their sound, though nothing in the way of black metal.

depends on which era you're going for. The progressive stuff starts around Below The Lights with Vertebrae being their latest. of their early black metal stuff, you really can't go wrong. Enslaved is one of those bands where even their mediocre stuff is still pretty good
Definately going for the more progressive stuff.. shall I get below the lights then? Bands don't generally tend to get better as time progresses, but I dunno if these guys are an exception or not.

below the lights is the pinnacle release for their progressive/post bm stuff. my absolute favorite of theirs.
