Since I'm a huge Nightwish fan, I thought I'd take a minute and make some of you die-hard Nightwish fans aware of some bands that are similar.

Here you go:

Visions of Atlantis --- review for 2nd, latest:

Edenbridge --- review for 4th, latest:

Magica --- review for debut, they have a 2nd just released:

Imperia --- review for debut, latest:
http://www.angelfire.com/music5/metalcdratings/pageIMPERIAREVIEW.html

*Also maybe check out Lunatica, Oratory and Seraphim.

Here are some more bands that are somewhat similar to Nightwish, but more in the gothic metal style (I consider Nightwish orchestral/symphonic power metal):

After Forever --- review for 3rd, latest:
http://www.angelfire.com/music5/metalcdratings/pageAFTERFOREVERREVIEW.html

Nemesea --- review for debut, latest:
http://www.angelfire.com/music5/metalcdratings/pageNEMESEAREVIEW.html

*Also maybe check out Epica, Penumbra, early Trail of Tears and Via Mistica.

Hopefully this can help a lot of you that are seeking more of the Nightwish sound...

Man, are you going around to every metal forum on the net and making the same thread? You did the same thing at metalyou.com and who knows how many other forums... Not saying it's a crime, but what's the point?

Yes, I have posted this on probably 6 or 7 boards total.
Most metal fans stay to one or two forums on a regular basis, and I feel it's unfair to only give this information to a small portion of the metal world, especially when it's a quick copy-paste for me. I actually posted this on a forum with a gothic metal section because the amount of Nightwish fans there was unbelievable, but it was obvious they didn't know of these other bands. I then decided "why not give the information to others". :)
I don't know if you're familiar with the Metal CD Ratings site (hopefully, hehehe), but it's completely non-profit and is designed to be a text-filled (rating and review only) website that's easy to navigate and intended to provide a lot of information, specifically for the power metal genre.

The biggest reason I posted this is because I know that there are few (if any) Nightwish fans that have heard of every band on my list. I didn't even know of some of the bands until recently. So i'm just trying to help Nightwish fans...

I really enjoy Nightwish, I will have to check out some of those links sometime.

So Clint-metalcdratings, just a little curious, can I ask which forum has been the most appreciative of your Nightwish-esque recommendations? How about which forum has flamed the living shit out of you the most?

Sure...
The forums that I post regularly on, I received 100% positive feedback and a lot of people listed a few other bands, as well as gave second opinions on the bands I listed. These would mostly be the Perpetual Motion boards, I'm present on those daily. :)

I originally posted this topic for the members of the www.metalreviews.com forum (in their gothic/doom section). They've been liking it a lot and I've received some "private messages" and emails seeking help. I'm also somewhat a regular there, but only discovered this forum a few weeks ago. ;)

I've only received 2 or 3 negative responses, all on new forums (to me) by those who have noticed this topic is on a lot of forums. While I understand why they might not like it, I still really feel that when 100 people view the topic, it helps out at least half. A lot of them don't understand my intentions, totally understandable, they don't know me like the other boards where I'm a regular.
So i've been wanting to discover new forums a bit...

Remember, the entire Metal CD Ratings site is designed to HELP power metal fans, bands, record labels, and so on. Same goes for this topic. :)

Hope this clears things up...
