Bands with great lyrics.

I like Destruction's lyrics, like Curse the Gods, pretty good lyrics. Also Slayer's lyrics aren't pretty bad too, check Angel of Death, South of Heaven, i assume you know these songs.

Clutch, bitches.

"Mercury"

Daedalus, your child is falling and the Labyrinth is calling.

Renegade heaps, humanity abandoned.
Bower of the vowels, you lit them and fanned them.
Mercury, the courier, celestial messenger
Bed with Dawn, your bride.
Arrowhead of Diane, pierce the mind of a man,
Tongueless muse of time

"Spacegrass"

Hey kid, are you going my way?
Hop in, we'll have ourselves a field day.
We'll find us some spacegrass,
Lay low, watch the universe expand.
Skyway, permanent Saturday.
by the way, Saturn is my rotary.
Hop in, it'll be eternity
Till we make it to M83.

Once around the Sun, cruising, climbing.
Jupiter cyclops winks at me, yeah, he knows who's driving.
Hit neutral in the tail of a comet.
Let the vortex pull my weight.
Push the seat back a little lower.
Watch light bend in the blower.
Planets align.
A king is born.
Dodge Swinger.
Jesus on the dashboard.

"Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw"

In the north they call us Rebels,
In the south they call us Yankees,
Because every other sucker's born to do the hokey pokey
With the skillet lickin' time keepers,
The grinning reapers
Of a missionary rock star.
You can rock it like Sir Sisyphus,
But even in it's genesis
It's really quite ridiculous,
'Lectric hobo, so now you know
Not to clock the Weeble Wobble hot rod gang,
Revelator big bang.

You can't hang with the heavinesses hung
Among the houses of the rising tongue.
No fun to crack the axle,
But it's got to be done
Beaus whenever you wobble the weebles
You know that they get ticked off.
And in the season of bol-weevil speaking evil in your ear,
And a pile of manure fertilizing all your fears,
We yabbadabbadoo all the way to Shangri-la.
Here it is with the rock and roll outlaw.

I'm gonna assume you were joking, but in case you weren't...
HAIL AND KILL
...rape their women as they cry!
Kill their servants, burn their homes, till there's no blood left to spill!
Power and dominion are taken by the will!
By divine right hail and kill!
Hail, hail, hail and kill!

and

PLEASURE SLAVE
Woman be my slave!
The greatest gift I can give, woman be my slave!
Chained unto my bed, woman be my slave
Begging to be fed!
Woman be my slave!

[Whistle] Woman, come here
Remove your garments
Kneel before me
PLEASE ME![Shitty guitar solo]

Godly material

I like mostly lyrics of Thorns and Dødheimsgard, but also Ajattara, Moonsorrow, Ulver, Satyricon and many other bands has great lyrics too.

Thorns - Vortex

My eye is the vortex from which nothing escapes
I am dematerialization of the self
I am the axis in the wheel of reincarnation
The endless singularity

I turn the spirals of existence
I am the slowing pace of life
I am the pulse of creation
Of inevitability and destruction
I balance the shifting tides of life
Everything must return... to me

I am the beginning
And I am the end

Dødheimsgard - Shiva-Interfere

Abstract tears to the ground
Soft years of melancholy
A draft of inner advice
To welcome the strangers neighbor
A vast, swift talk of romance and despair
A bellboy's journey through the eight limbs of Yoga

An efficient success of lost ego and body
Flannel flirtation, a chasm of childish obedience
And I can see you all, for this is without blur

Glorious destruction
Glorious creation
Grimly folds with luminous elegance
Winged between the corroded amber

I scent a fragrance from the past
Bright as death, it came soaring towards me
Something's missing and I don't know what it is
Forlon satisfaction, admitting the selfish seal
And the serpent's steel

Directly from the ocean of flowers
Visual contact, planet B8----18
Sonar disturbance
Asmodeus comes with terror
In spontaneous air corridors
All for the phantom to inhale
For today is forever

And the world grew without form
And for those who planted their seeds of
Reliant vulnerability
Chakra Nadmara, I wish I was as fresh as you
Find your way, the "asphyx" teaches
Rumble, dismay, a chronicle of the samurai

Oh you are crystalline, I say, you are made of pain
For only suffering can create such beauty
And only suffering can wipe out your tears

I remember I ate of the tree
And hence of the wisdom of which we may speak of
The tedious ones are those who attends the mask of
Which they seek

I open up for the flavor of starvation
There is absolutely no one there,
And "his" is for sure, as we grasp to reach the light
Slowly to mosey
I'll drag you by your horns
For with a whirling emblem cracking the dawn,
I face the goat at sunrise

Steel Seal have very good lyrics in their debut album By the Power of Thunder. Most of them are adaptations of works by well-known British and American poets, as the following, on verse by Edgar Allan Poe:

Theatre of Pain

Scent in the air, stars in the sky
Look, it’s a real gala night!
Demons in red, angels in white
Sinners in veils all bedight

They seat in a theatre, together to see
A new play of old hopes and fears
Where there’s much of madness and there’s more of sin
The plots horrid soul it begins

Mimes toss about, makes a great noise
Thinking they’re like Gods on high
They turn around, lift up their voice
Hither and tither they fly
Mere puppets they are, they come and they go
At biddings of vast formless things
That shift on the scene and flap through the storm,
The woe from out their condor wings

Turn off the lights, to warn the lookers-on
Turn off the lights, you know the show is starting on
Turn off the lights
In the theatre of pain!
Tense atmosphere, they scream and shout,
That motley drama be sure,
Will never end, never run out,
Will never come to a stop!

Some Thing always hunted by a crowd seizing not
Through a circle to self-same spot
Until final curtain, a funeral pall,
Comes down with the rush of a storm
Turn on the lights, warn the lookers-on
Turn on the lights, we promise the break will not be long
Turn on the lights
In the theatre of pain!
Turn on the lights
In the theatre of pain!

Other lyrics are inspired by Rudyard Kipling, S.T. Coleridge, William Blake, ecc. :headbang:

I"ve always thought Rush had really good deep and meaningful lyrics. I know they are more progressive rock than metal but still. A lot of metalheads like them.

Not sure who else, I really don't pay much attention to lyrics.
