Not metal, but definitely check out Magma and the entire zeuhl movement that they spawned. A form of avant-rock with chants and frenzied operatic vocals spewing out nonsense lyrics(gibberish).

Epic, subversive,rhythmically intense and trance-inducing music.

It actually sounds a lot better than my description of it.

Sounds like sort of a noise/drone type thing. Funny how the genre got its name. Kinda makes sense that some people feel it's not a valid genre.
