"barbarian-movies"

Good barbarian flick last year was "13th warrior" with supporting role for Antonio Banderas. Evil barbarian hordes sporting bear outfits attacking Viking outpost........violence/gore factor is delightfully high, this is cool flick.

Also original "beastmaster" movie was cool, especially at the end where he defends city gate against the attacks of the dark hordes

Indeed the 13th warrior was a cool movie, not a good movie, but a cool movie ;)
It was really nice to see most of the Vikings being played by Norwegian or Scandinavian actors and not some redneck from Texas :)

yeah but the swedish or norweigan that the oracle spoke or whatever is was supposed to be, sounded hilarious :D
some odd mix of danish, swedish and norweigan.
hm... now that i think of it, perhaps it wasn't just some error, perhaps they where trying to mimic the old nordic language.
what do you think?
the movie was decent anyway, some entertaining swordfights and nice vikings :)

Yeah that was pretty corny, I dont think they tryed to mix it into some sort of semi-norse language, if they did it was a really bad way to do it, since norse didnt sound very much like the languages we speak today...
But the worst part by far was when the Arab learnt "norse", he was sitting and listening to the vikings talk and then suddenly in the middle of all the Norwegian/Swedish/Danish some English words appeared and then suddenly they all spoke English and the Arab had learnt "norse" :p

hehe yeah i guess that's what you should expect from a hollywood production.

 yes that's so silly, he's a quick learner that arab, did the vikings have an accent as well? cause that's the most annoying crap i know, when people from other countries in american movies has got a thick accent to give the right "feeling" to the movie

Hehe, yeah as far as I remember they did have an accent :p

But whats even worse is when Russians and Germans for instance talk like some redneck from Texas...

hehe did they have horns on their helmets as well? :)

naah... rednecks? it's more like "we muss find tze bomm, befoere tze amaericans" or the evil russian communist stereotype that's grimey and very evil and shoots his own men etc :)

Weirdly enough they didnt have horns on their helmets.

Hehe yeah that too, have you seen "Enemy at the gates"?
Thats a good example of rednecks playing Russians :p

no i haven't seen that one but i've heard that the accent thing is quite corny to say the least in it :)

speaking about horned helmets, one thing that surprised me was that on amon amarths cd "the crusher" the thor character had horns, very odd since they seem to be quite knowledgeable when it comes to vikings and mythology, perhaps the artist screwed up :)
but still annoying.

Hmm yeah, didnt notice that.

But Tor is a God you know, he probably had horns on his helmet to seeme more majestic ;)

hehe yeah that might be the case, amon have perhaps been in contact with him and seen his oh so majestic helmet :D

gotta see what the people at forum have to say about this.

I really loved Beast Master when I was a kid. Not the series, the movie from the early eighties. Also The Sword And The Sorcerer, Lady Hawk to name a couple. I also read somewhere that the script for Kull The Conqurer was supposed to be the third Conan film. It was canned and then brought back for that Kevin Sorbo disaster.

Nah...it shouldn't be. It's on a major production label. (WB I think)Stars Ruchtor Hyuer (or however you fucking spell his name) and Michelle Phifer and Mathew Broadwick. Although not a "barbarian" movie, it does fit with the fantasy/midievil theme quite nicly. More like a AD&D styled filim.

ah ok well i'll have to check out broadwrick (broadrick?) list of movies then when i get home, as longs as it's fantasy it's good, doesn't have to be barbarian even tho that's the greatest movie-genre :)

Check out Dungeons and Dragons the movie :p

I do wonder how they could make such a bad movie out of the D&D universe...
