Bass guitar intonation?

Hey,
I just wanted to know if there's anything like an intonation for bass guitars,
because I want to put thicker strings on mine and I don't know if that needs any preparation I need to worry about. (Like with normal guitars)

Also: Which string gauge would you recommend if I want to play in Drop C, Drop B and Drop A? (one gauge for everything!)

130 or 135. If you tune up or down you have to check the intonation, like any guitar.

Thick gauges will work best for lower tunings.

Yes, you need to intonate the bass and probably make a neck and action adjustment (have a qualified repair tech do it) for optimum performance.

Intonation should ideally be checked after any changes in string gauge or tuning (changes in the overall tuning being used, not every time you tune).
