Bass PodXT vs. SansAmp BDDI?

I have a BDDI and an original Bass POD which has been sitting in a cupboard for over a year. The only tones I found useable on the Bass POD were the SVT's and Octave drops, but since I've had the BDDI I've not bothered. It's a fantastic little unit and I'm able to dial in a great tone within minutes. The general "colour" of the unit is fantastic...great low end response, distortion without mud, etc. Simply amazing little box.

Well, if the original Bass POD compared to B.PodXT is as bad as the original guitar version is, then it's not even fair to compare it to BDDI. ;)

Both are good, but I prefer Sansamp (I have both).

Well, that's more of an opinion I wanted to hear... I thought so myself, but had no chance to compare them. I figure I can't go wrong with BDDI, thanks guys!

Actually I have the Bass Expansion Pack from PODxt, but it sounds like the BassPODxt.
Anyway, I can post clips for you, but the Bass POD have so many options that´s difficult to show in a couple of clips how the unit sounds (it has like 30 amps, many cabinets, fx, eq, etc, etc). And yes, it can sound GREAT, but lacks my favourite type of bass tone (the growly heavy driven ones)... and Sansamp do the job with 4 knobs (bass, treble, drive and presence) like a fuckin miracle box. If Sansamp GT2 did for guitar tone what BDDI do for the bass there would be world peace.

The POD does lots of things ok and the bass driver does one thing fantastically. It really comes down to what your needs are.

And that one thing is? :)
I play in two bands, one plays old school HM and the other a mixture of styles, mostly punk and thrash metal. I intend to use it to record other bands as well, but I'm mostly seeking something for my bands recordings. Oh, and if it means anything one player uses the pick and the other his fingers.

Wait a minute, you want to tell me that by purchasing a $100 Bass Expansion Pack for my PodXT I have a whole BassPODxt at my disposal? :hypno:
If so, then I'll get both the expansion and BDDI

That´s right : )
Actually it´s even better, because you can mix the amps, cabinets and fx from both units (BOD and POD).

I own a Bass POD XT, and a Sans amp.

Short story: the sans amp, is sitting on my console right now, the bass pod is in a box somewhere and I'd have to go searching to find it.

Long story: the bass pod had some useable tones, but like the guitar pod, none of them had any life in them. You could always tell that there was something artificial about the bass tone with the pod. With the sansamp, the bass feels more organic, and life-like. It's very hard to describe without hearing it. Now, if I only had the bass pod, I could certainly make a great sounding record, no question about that. However, given the choice, I'll use the sansamp.
