Hey guys,

Thread title says it all. I'm looking for a set of steel strings for those two tunings. I had the misfortune of needing to restring my 35" BTB with a 100 to 45 set and it was WAYYYY too light for these tunings.

Ideally after the correct set of DR Lo-Riders or D'Addario Pro Steels!

In C I like 125's but I hit really hard and anything else I have tuning issues with. In D I'd say a set of 110's or 105's depending on the player. For tracking heavy stuff though I have a preference for heavier gauge strings.

Would that be for the 34" Squier?

I'm thinking somewhere between 110 and 115 ought to be right?

Bass is ALWAYS played hard here.

Thats for my Modulus VJ4, C is such a weird tuning on bass. 110 - 115 feels to light and 125 is a little to heavy. Does anyone make a 120?

Edit: And yes I suspected as much with the bass playing Ermz :) I go a little heavier than normal as I play most things slapped or really, really hard with my fingers and if I don't have the resistance it can get out of tune pretty quick.

Think I've got it:

That should do nicely :)

Ermz on an unrelated note, have you tried using DR Hi-Beams? I tried a set on my bass and they sounded great at gigs / rehearsing but I didn't get a chance to record with them before they went dead.

Yep 110-115 should be good (thought I'd shoot for 115 if at all possible). Funny as how ZERO local shops carry that exact set and that's the one I use. To thee internetz!!!
