bass string gauges

really depends on the strength of the neck and the scale length too. I have a set of .135s on my GSR200 (34") and it handles down to A standard fine, but my SX fretless sounded like absolute balls any lower than C# and had the loosest B I've ever played.

135's in B

I had to drill out the bridge a bit on my Sx bass to make them fit. Love the tension though. You hit a note on the low B and it stays in tune. Does not go sharp and fall flat.

I'm running 60's on guitar in drop b at the moment for this band. I feel they are a little floppy still. Tons of tunning problems and the guitarist wanted to use there 52's with the action super low. Lets just say that did not fly.

pick up a pack of Dr DDT the tension is above anything else i've felt and the stability is superb

any tips for nice and tight 4-String/drop C suitable strings!?
my bass is a schecter stiletto custom 4,
i'm using d'addario pro steels (55-110) atm,
great sounding strings but tuned to C, the 110 is just fucking flubby.

cheers
S.

for A sharp tuning with a 4 string fender highway 1 jazz bass... basically, is that possible or should a 5 string bass be in the situation instead?
Definitely possible with extremely thick strings and a neck that can handle it.
A 5 string would be easier to deal with for that tuning, though.
