Hey guys, i know there is loads of threads about bass traps and even more on the John Sayers' forum but i'm not a member on there and i'm sure you lot can help.

Where i work, (Focus DIY) we are having a sale this weekend where 100mm thick loft insulation (the rolls of fluffy stuff) are £2.79 for 13.89m(squared).

This is 20p per square metre so a pretty awesome deal, but is the stuff workable for bass traps? I know the rigid stuff is preferred but what if i compressed a couple layers???

Cheers

Rob

The only thing that matters is the absorption coefficients.

I made my bass traps out of fluffy pink stuff. I imagine working with 703 would have been much easier, but I already had the fluffy pink, so I saved at least $100.

I have the 6.25" thick stuff, and I "compressed" it to 4", which should make it even better.

Do you have exposed corners in your room? if so, get some material to cover it and just pile as much as will fit in the corner... like this sketchup diagram I just made.
