Batman Begins

well, what I had read was wrong, it was $70mill total, not for the weekend. It was like $46mill for the weekend. Still a strong opening for any movie; they need to stop comparing to Star Wars. Besides, after that atrocities that were the last two Batman movies, all $70 million of that was based off good marketing of the new one. Once word-of-mouth gets around, it'll probably have more longevity than they expected.

It's good, but the fight scenes are shot too close and edited too fast. You can't even tell who's winning. Other than that, best Batman evar!!!
I agree about the fight scenes, but a lot of movies have that problem now. Other than that, it's a very strong movie.

Yeah, the fight scenes were a bit off, but yeah, totally wins. The whole "weaponized drug" thing cracks me up too because the substance exists. It's called Bella Donna, I only wish I could get my gritty little hands on it. Oh, and "Rachel" (forget the actresses name) totally nipped out in one of the last scenes too.

Awesome movie!!! Lots of action, the fight scenes were pretty good imo! The weak link was Katie Holmes, she's terrible... and

*spoiler*

That scene where she tazered (sp) the Scarecrow was soooooo fucking lame

*end spoiler*

Other than that, the movie was top notch, will definitely make the Top 5 for me this year.

Agreed. I think the scarecrow should have had much more of a part. His role was actually badass as compared to the other villans. A Batman movie isn't really a Batman movie if there's no psychotic bastard running around doing teh crazies.

ehhh....i thought the fight scenes were good. usually fight scenes are so choreographed and cheesy, i just want to turn the movie off (read: mr and mrs smith) but batman's were at least somewhat violent and fierce.

speaking of unrealistic: is anyone aside from me tired of people firing off huge weapons as if they were watering the garden? i mean, there is simply no way that 100 pound angelina jolie could shoot a real 12 guage like that. also, shooting while moving? no. remember mission impossible 2 when he's shooting from a motorcycle? absolutely impossible. maybe i should quit watching movies. but i swear 70s action flicks were not that phony. and i don't know of any movie from that era that featured some tiny little woman beating people to death and shooting .44 magnums.
rant over.

Worst offenders in recent years for too-rapidly-edited, too-closely-filmed action scenes : Blade: Trinity, The Bourne Supremacy (I still don't know what the fuck was happening in that car chase), and Batman Begins.

However, Batman Begins still manages to be an awesome film by dint of impeccable internal logic, the darkest atmosphere of a Batman movie yet, Christian Bale's performance, skillful storytelling (there are like, a dozen characters, and you identify on some level with all of them), and really, really focusing on the underlying theme of Batman's entire existence as a character - fear. :)
