Baying of the Hounds is one of the finest songs ever recorded.

Baying of the Hounds became my favorite GR track after hearing it live.. it just seems a lot more energetic now than the previous favorite, Harlequin Forest.

When I first heard this, I thought it was a bit 'Opeth by numbers', but it's grown on me a hell of a lot, especially after seeing it live . One of my favourites now, especially towards the end (double bass..).

Not to mention that it has the best solo on the album in it =D. The entire album is up there with the best (Opeth's and metal's generally).

Although I do have to admit when I first heard that organ riff in the beginning I got visions of Deep Purple and the Doors being possessed, and that was worth something.

The organ riff is more like Uriah Heep. Just listen... It's swinging!!!

The organ and drums in that song make me visualize the subject running, as if chased by, yes, the hounds. Nice work.

BTW, good to see the album cover artist appreciate the band he did the work for.

the album was very good, i would have to say beneath the mire and ghost of perdition are my ver favourite tracks on the Cd. the begining to Ghost Of Perdition has such a powerful impact to a first time listener it is amazing, that song got my little brother into Opeth

GR is one hell of an album and Baying of the Hounds is If not my favorite at least one out of my 3 best. Too hard to decide.
I am under the impression that the clean vocals in the album are slightly deferent than usually. More melodic in a way.Still very Opeth.

Indeed, definitely the best looking cover yet - although not as fitting as others. It's up there with the best though.

yes, i think we all are, otherwise there wouldnt be that many people here, im glad that there are a fair bit of opeth fans, not too much not too little. If there were too much we would hear them everywhere we go.
