Just how bad are they really?

I was looking on their site and although I'm not a huge fan of Vs anymore this really cought my eye:

http://www.bcrich.com/v_jr_nj_dlx.asp

So let's look at the specs:

EMG 81/85 actives - Check
Original Floyd Rose - Check
Neck Through - Check
Grover Tuners - Check
Mahogany Body - Check
Ebony Fingerboard - Check
Sexy as Hell Reverse Headstock - Check

OK, so I google it to try and find out how much it would cost expecting with those specs to be at least £800 + and then I find out I could have one for just £378.11!?!?!?!

How on earth can this be possible with those materials?
Are they built in jungles by people who wear leaves for shoes who don't even know what a guitar is?
Will it disintegrate after the first riff?
Does it have fretwork like Freddy Krueger's fingers?
Am I missing something here?

I remember in my teens that Max Cavelera played one in Sepultura for a while and that Kerry King and Chuck Schuldiner played them, but apart from that it seemed every metal guitarist was playing a Jackson or an Ibanez and more recently ESP seem to be totally dominating the market. So what's the crack with BC Rich?

An another note I'm GASsing for an Exotic Classic Mockingbird if it turns out that BC Rich make do indeed make decent guitars:

I think you will ultimately get what you pay for. BC Rich have crunched their prices because ESP is all over them and most other gtr suppliers in this market. The hardware makes the new NJs seem appealing but i cant image the build is going to be that fanatstic. I expect the trem will be a chinese Floyd rather than a floyd inhouse or schaller. Having said that i havent played the new NJs so i am only guessing - and could be really wrong!
To be honest you can spend a £1000 on ESP/LTD, JAckson etc. and the build is still shocking for the money....so go try one out & if you like it you gonna have yourself a bargin! (i have a 19 yr old NJ2 Warlock and it is a fantastic guitar!)

me and a my mates ( two guitarist ) went out the day to try guitars, and after playing the esp/ esp ltd, ibanez and jackson the one that blew us all away was the bc rich gunslinger power. The neck is nice and thin (if you like that) and it has emg 81 and 85 and has a really nice thick sound and is only 391.

One thing to be wary of with BC Riches is that a lot of them (Warlock, Mockingbird) have RETARDEDLY short necks (like 24.5" or something, even shorter than a Gibson neck at 24.75") - that V doesn't, fortunately, but still...

EDIT: It's 24 5/8, whereas 24.75" = 24 6/8", obviously

I've played a couple of these new korean bc richs that absolutely ripped. It's prolly one of the new import ofrs though, but still excellent value for money.

Most of the models they have on their site are 25 1/2”.

Been gassing for one of these for a while:

At £392.76 it's a total steal.

Have to say that's totally undercutting ESP and Ibanez so you have to wonder what the catch is though.

Hmm, yeah. Saw one of those Vs at the GC here recently. I think the V is too narrow for my tastes. If you see it in person you'll understand what I mean. Compared to a Jackson King V or something it's just too narrow looking. It's different, but not in a good way IMO. The build and features looked nice though.

Honestly, though, what the fuck is up with the cloud inlays they have on some on their models? I mean, CLOUDS!?!? It might as well be rainbows or something...

Hmmm. On closer inspection the specs say Body wood: mahogany
but in the summary it says Featuring our neck through design, Nato body and contrasting wood stringers,...

Now as far as I'm aware Nato is a cheaper wood that is similar to Mahogany:

I smell a rat

I have 2 B.C. Rich Dracos and for the record it's the only guitar I'll ever want, unless they make a higher end NT Virgin with beast headstock. BC Rich has seriously revamped their line and it's paying off bigtime. I urge those of you who haven't tried the new BC Riches to do so. As for clips, hopefully this will do
