Gee, this thing just gets more interesting. First one of the dudes dies, then the other two are found alive and expected to be rescued in 48 hours.

That was a week ago.

Rumours abound about the World's Most Evil Woman, Naomi Robson of Today Tonight, being a prima donna there and having a whole campervan just for makeup. The media circus is the biggest we've seen since... well, I don't know when. Nothing like this has happened over such a long period of time here for quite a while.

Now 60 Minutes reporter Richard Carleton dies of a heart attack there. This thing just gets bigger and bigger.

Yes strange goings on indeed.

I wonder how long it is until there is a Channel Ten Telemovie - "Beaconsfield: Beacon Of Hope"

There will definitely be a telemovie or two. The two blokes (presuming they survive) will be part of a bidding war for their story for 60 Minutes or whatever, then there will be the books and so on and so forth.

I reckon the whole media thing's just pathetic. Ratings, ratings. That's all that matters in tv land. It reminds me of the whole Schapelle Corgi saga.

It reminds me a lot of Ace in the Hole, the 1951 Kirk Douglas movie about a reporter who hampers the rescue efforts of a guy trapped in a mine to make it a bigger story.

I'm sure I heard on the news today that there's now a jumping castle for the entertainment of the kiddies at the mine, which just makes the whole thing even more ridiculous.

Yeah, forgot about the Grohl thing.

I don't mean to sound harsh as he has died but Richard Carlton was an arrogant prick

I understand that it's "hard rock" causing all of the problems. (Except for Carleton's death, maybe.) They should have thought about that before sending down an iPod with Foo Fighters on it.
