Behringer Pre or Just a Good mixer ??

What would you guys reccomend, I know you guys been ripping apart the behringer stuff.

Im looking to get a decent Mic Pre for recording on my laptop, the sound im gettting through my soundcard just sux ...

Would you reccomend i get a Behringer Mic pre or Just a good mixer with decent pres built in ?

I got about $150 to $200 to spend.

Sounds like you need decent a/d as much as you need a pre (not to mention avoiding 1/8" connectors). There are alot of choices in (or right above your price range) in both firewire and USB flavors. I believe that m-audio, presonus, and edirol all make units that would do what you need.
Anyone w/ direct experience with these units should chime in now.

i got m-audio dmp3 preamp///pretty nice for $150 and 2 channels.

For firewire the F-control ain't too bad for 2 channels and the price.

Check out something like this...the Presonus Inspire 1394. They're in your budget ($199 new w/free shipping from MF), are better quality than the Behringer stuff, gives you 2 pretty decent mic pre's, and a better soundcard/converters to work with:

A buddy of mine happened to mention the M-Audio transit for $80

Any experience with this?
