He is a modern composer (1881-1945) and I just heard some of his stuff from a friend of mine who lives in the same dorm as me. Bartok's music is downright fucking amazing. It is about the most complicated music I have ever heard, yet it doesn't sound pretentious to me. Something about it forces me to sit and listen, and continue listening until it is over. Then when it is over, I want to go write something like what I just heard, but I know I can't. In short, this guy might quickly become my favorite composer.
