Ben Stien "Expelled"

And while you're at it, pick up a bag of fortune cookies & plan out the rest of your life.

 Will do.

I don't have an issue with the movie and like any Michael Moore (although Mike is a bigger jackass) style film take it with a huge grain of salt. I also read the 2 links James gave.

What was interesting (and I did not know this) was that there were scientist being interviewed who where saying "yes ID is plausible" that were also saying "has nothing to do with creationism". Although didn't elaborate enough.

As far as getting or not getting anything out of the movie. Eh it's just a movie :goggly:.

Oh and if you gents would be so kind as to not succumb to calling me a moron for watching a movie and posting my reaction that would be good (if this thread goes anywhere).

Is there any negative name calling we can do? I mean I just wanna play by the rules here as to being rude. Just so you know.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I suppose I should since I'll be meeting the producer come next year. Perks of being an indie film maker and all :) No fame but all the connections.

For how apparently intelligent Ben Stein is, he sure is an idiot. I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've read they edited Richard Dawkins' interview to make it look like he didn't know what he was talking about. The producer only obtained Dawkin's participation by lying about the flim's title and subject material. It's propaganda meant to confuse people by inventing a false conspiracy. Shady indeed.

So it's a Michael Moore movie?

Seriously, propaganda is propaganda from either side of any issue.

I'm not very familiar with Michael Moore's stuff other than Sicko so I can't really comment. All I know is a ton of people hate him. Sicko was pretty interesting, but I don't know much about the subject matter to make an informed statement. I do know that I won't be visiting a doctor for anything that isn't life threatening. I didn't need to watch Sicko to reach that frame of mind though. Past doctor bills for small trivial visits are enough of a deterrent to keep me away.

But with the issue of ID (creationism-lite) versus evolution, there is only one side which has to twist the facts, manipulate people, and lie through their teeth in order to gain any ground. :)

Denying evolution in favor of ID is like denying gravity in favor of the idea that Jesus is pushing us down. Sure, you can believe that if it makes you feel better - but why insist that the idea is just as legitimate and should be taught to our future scientists? My question is, what will science do with that information? What progress will it inspire?

Evolution is proven out every day in laboratories all over the world. Several successful and important fields of study are absolutely dependant on its being true. In other words, the acceptance of evolution is getting us somewhere. It's fueling discovery. That the acceptance of ID over evolution would lead to no such advancement seems to prove that it's not science. What more is there to this argument?

Regardless, a person could still make a pro-evolution propaganda film that contains heaps of untruths. Propaganda isn't about truth, it's about persuasion.
