I haven't seen any of these so far, so I thought we could start showing our lists and discussing 2010 albums. If there's a similar thread already going I apologize...

Overall I think it is a good year for Metal, not as good as 2009 or 2008 though.

My top 20 in order:

1 - Immolation - Majesty and Decay
2 - Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones
3 - Christian Mistress - Agony & Opium
4 - Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini
5 - Hooded Menace - Never Cross the Dead
6 - Hail of Bullets - On Divine Winds
7 - Dawnbringer - Nucleus
8 - Deathspell Omega - Paracletus
9 - Father Befouled - Morbid Destitution of Covenant
10 - Melechesh - The Epigenesis

11 - Inquisition - Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual...
12 - Winterfylleth - The Mercian Sphere
13 - Ares Kingdom - Incendiary
14 - Profanatica - Disgusting Blasphemies against God
15 - Slough Feg - The Animal Spirits
16 - Burzum - Belus
17 - Blood of Kingu - Sun in The House of Scorpio
18 - Diocletian - War of All against All
19 - Negura Bunget - Virstele Pamintului
20 - StarGazer - A Great Work of Ages

This will most likely change, as I haven't listened to a lot of releases. Some stuff is on the way.

Ugh, I heard a lot of stuff so I'll have to list it and give it some order first so I don't forget like twenty releases I loved. Also I'll probably categorize it as I don't want to compare different stuff :erk:.

A few off the top of my head:

Atlantean Kodex- The Golden Bough
Ereb Altor- The End
Draugnim- Horizons Low
Orden Ogan- Easton Hope
Enslaved- Axioma Ethica Odini
Agalloch- Marrow of the Spirit

I'll compile a real list sometime as well, but off the top of my head this is what I got

1) Inquisition - Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm
2) Ares Kingdom - Incendiary
3) Hour of 13 - The Ritualist
4) Profanatica Disugusting Blasphemies Against God
5) Briton Rites - For Mircalla

I really haven't listened to much this year. I've just paid attention to those albums of more well-known bands.

So off the top of my head, I enjoyed these releases:

Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble of Shadows - A Strange Thing to Say
Darkthrone - Circle the Wagons
Abigor - Time Is the Sulphur in the Veins of the Saint...
Deathspell Omega - Paracletus
Burzum - Belus
Ihsahn - After

I still need to spend more time listening to these albums before I judge them further:
Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit
The Meads of Asphodel - The Murder of Jesus the Jew
Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini

And I'll need to check out new albums from Immolation, Profanatica, Inquisition and whatever else I haven't gotten to.

Anybody get the new Aborym? Kinda meh from what I've heard. they were better with Attila and Prime Evil.

From the few that I've heard
Blacklodge - T/ME
Abigor - Sulfur...
Profanatica - DBAG
Prosanctus Inferi - Pandemonic Ululations of Vesperic Palpitation

Needa check out the new Diocletian and DsO, I've been lazy
Still waiting for signs of life from Diapsiquir, Alien Deviant Circus, and Pavillon Rouge.

Still loving this.

Won't have a complete list for at least a couple of months. Here's a few that'll probably make it:

Weapon - From the Devil's Tomb
Arckanum - Sviga Læ
Dub Buk - Мертві сорому не ймуть
Inquisition - Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm
Dødsengel - Mirium Occultum
Demontage - The Principal Extinction
Burzum - Belus
Kawir - To Uranus

12 - Winterfylleth - The Mercian Sphere
17 - Blood of Kingu - Sun in The House of Scorpion

Havent listened to much else on that list but i probably should. These 2 are definately in my top ten.

Darkthrone - Circle the Wagons

Electric Wizard - Black Masses
Alcest - Écailles de lune
Twilight - Monument to Time End

Im sure theres more but i cant think of them right now. New Acid Witch might make it onto my list soon. 2010 has definately been a great year for metal.

i still have a couple albums to go through again, but so far these are at the top of my list ...

Witchaven - Terrorstorm
Denouncement Pyre - World Cremation
Interment - Into The Crypts of Blasphemy
Vasaeleth - Crypt Born and Tethered to Ruin
Decrepit Birth - Polarity
Watain - Lawless Darkness
Brain Drill - Quantum Catastrophe

but theres been a lot of goods stuff this year so far, and a lot of other albums i have to spin again.

alcest - scales of the moon
agalloch - marrow of the spirit
burzum - belus
les discrets - Septembre et ses dernières pensées
anathema - we're here because we're here
immolation - majesty and decay
lantlos - .neon

various artist compliation albums;

Whom the Moon a Nightsong Sings

and

Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer

1. Electric Wizard - Black Masses
2. Hour of 13 - The Ritualist
3. Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones
4. The Grotesquery - Tales From the Coffin Born
5. Profanatica - Disgusting Blasphemies Against God
6. Overkill - Ironbound
7. Defeated Sanity - Chapters of Repugnance

That'll do for me.

i think the new enslaved is not up to par as a potential album of the year, though it's very good.

I like Enslaved, but the new album is just too... poppy? I won't say it's bad because it's not, but it distinctly lacking the vaguely folky sound I love from their previous material.

Demontage - The Principal Extinction
Atlantean Kodex - The Golden Bough
Inquisition - Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm
Grave Desecrator - Insult
Ares Kingdom - Incendiary
Blasphemophagher - For Chaos, Obscurity and Desolation
Briton Rites - For Mircalla
Vomitor - Devils Poison
Weapon - From The Devil's Tomb
Deathhammer - Phantom Knights
Hour of 13 - The Ritualist
Korgull the Exterminator - War of the Voivodes
Force Of Darkness - Darkness Revelation
Vasaeleth - Crypt Born & Tethered to Ruin
Cruel Force - The Rise of Satanic Might

And that's without including a shitload of awesome EP's. Not to shabby a year I gotta say. Hanging out for that Procession full length which will top everything probably, not sure if that's this year though.
