Ok, after watching this new Dio DVD of the Phily show in '85 I've been thinking about all of the great stage sets from back then. So who do you think had the best stage?

These are some of my favorites--

Dio - Sacred Heart tour (of course :) )
Kiss - Love Gun tour
Ozzy - the tour with Brad Gilis, remember all of those steps?!!
Metallica - Justice tour

I'll stop there, but there were sooo many cool stages back then.

I gotta go with KISS on the Creatures tour...the TANK!!! Also ALICE COOPER (any tour) and I must say that OZZY did have quite the show with Brad Gillis and the midget that came out and the "Iron Man" who brought him drinks.....

KISS - Revenge Tour (Statue of Liberty, lasers, speakers kicked over, Eric Singer's drum kit up on those steps, strippers..)
KISS - Hot In The Shade Tour (Sphynx, lasers, etc!)
KISS - Creatures Tour (the tank and exploding stage stuff!)
KISS - Love Gun Tour (biggest stage anyone had seen at that point probably)
KISS - The last 4 tours (FUCKING HUGE, the Psycho Circus tour is probably THE biggest stage production...)

Ok enough Kiss, all their stageshows have been awesome haha!

Def Leppard - Hysteria Tour (in the round with those lasers! UNREAL!)
Alice Cooper - Trash tour (great theatrical show..)
Motley Crue - Feelgood tour (the drum kit haha!)
Motley Crue - Shout tour (because I like the apocalyptic theme of the sets)
Poison - Flesh & Blood Tour (ramps, poles, lasers, platforms, pyro, fluro colours, over the top!)
Dio - Sacred Heart (HUGE!)
Judas Priest - Turbo Tour (another huge stage show!)
Bon Jovi - New Jersey Tour (looks awesome in the Lay Your Hands On Me video anyway haha!)

80's stages...
Well, I'll have to call it a draw between
Billy Idol's Charmed Life Stage
David Lee Roth's Eat 'Em & Smile Stage
Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood Stage
All three were excellent shows, all three acts in their prime
and were NEVER to do anything near that again.

You know what? I stuck to shows off tours that I personally saw live. That was a killer stage stage, I did however see them on the Somewhere on Tour, great set too.

Thats what I was trying to do but lol as you know being a teen in the 90's there wasnt exzactly a whole mess of good bands with Spectacular stage setups lol I guess I can say even though I really dont like him Rob Zombie had a hell of a stage setup back when I saw with Ozzy .... and Ozzy flying across the arena in a sleigh laughing his ass off firing his cannon was pretty cool to :D

WASP has some legendary stage set ups

thats the problem with shows you dont see set ups like that anymore. the tickets are more expensive than they ever were all to pay for a show thats worse than they ever were. what band today has a good stage show? none of em. all they ever do is stand on stage trying to look evil. although slayer and iron maiden had cool light shows when i saw em

KISS and Iron Maiden are probably the only 2 bands still doing a major stage production these days... oh and Poison still do a pretty good one too especially considering they are no longer even big.

Edguy are an awesome live band. When I saw them they only played a club with no stage show at all but heaps of energy. Their style as a live band is made for arenas though, and I can imagine a big Iron Maiden style set/lighting with pyrotechnics and stuff would suit their show perfectly and be awesome!
