I know the new album is cool, but Symphony X has changed it's stile to a more agressive and "dry" kind of music. I like it but i really prefer their old stuff. I hope they are just trying to do something different or are planing to do different stuff in their next albums. What do u guys think? I'd like to ask you not to be influenced emmotionally by the new album just 'cause it's the one you guys are listenning now and are, nowadays, more involved to.

Music stores where i live dont carry it... :(

Damnit! This place sux..there's a lack of good music stores here, theres only one small shop that sells death, doom, power, and prog metal. And they only have a few titles. :-\

The Odyssey is for my personal tastes....the greatest CD ever recorded.

Everything I envision in a perfect metal CD is encapsulated in those 60 some odd minutes.

I can't really say wich Symphony X cd is my favorite Twilight In Olympus, Divine Wings, V and The Odyssey are all tied right now.

I don't agree with you though, I don't have any problems with Symphony X going in a heavier direction (I listen way more heavier music like Death metal) and I don't agree the new CD is ''dry'' without emotion, there's very few stuff in Symphony X's catalog that matches the emotion of songs like The Odyssey and Awakenings. The way I see this is that people always are going to find faults in CD's putted out by bands, If a band sticks with the same formula from one album to another people are going to whine and bash the hell out of the band just because the band didn't changed enough, on the other hand if the band changes their style other people are going to do the same thing (a prime example of this is Metallica)you can't always please people.

Ps.My last comment wasn't directed to you, it was more of a general comment. I don't mean to offend:D

I believe I read or heard in an interview that the more raw approach that was in the Odyssey was just sort of a one time deal. I wouldn't expect their next album to be as raw as most of the tracks on the Odyssey. And my favorite albums by Symphony X are The Damnation Game and V, they are tied, but I think all of their albums are good, except for the first one due to Rod's vocals.

Agreed, fans whine when the band doesn't progress, and they cry "sell out" when they change their style. I think its great that SX tried something new, because they succeeded in it. The new album is heavier and more aggressive, but the musicianship is just as good, if not better than previous albums, and there are still emotional songs with the smooth melodies that Symphony X is know for.

Totally agree

DWOT is my fav

I LOVE the odyssey, but i thought Romeo's solo's were kinda weak on this album, excluding the wicked solo. thats why the odyssey isn't my fav, just cause of the solo's.

Hey man! no hard feelings about that day, I'm not paranoid of being said stuff like u think... don't worry about sending message direct to me.
Hmmmm when i said dry, I wasn't referring to the emotional way but to the guitar, it's more... let me see... raw.

I guess u're right but I became their fan this year, so I still wanted more of their old style.

I would like to second that... couldn't have said it better myself.
Simply the most perfect, amazing metal album I have ever heard, hands down.

Don't worry buddy I see your point, I just wanted to make clear that people have different opinions and even though I don't agree with it's cool that you voice your opinion respecting the band's work, high five for that :)
