I've been chipping away here and there trying to get into Evergrey, and I'm starting to really dig them. I'm kind of nervous about buying anything right now though since I'm trying to save money, but I figure one album can't hurt too bad. Which one to buy, though? Do they have a sort of definiteive album or good introduction album? I hear that Recreation Day is supposedly pretty sweet, along with Torn. Initially I was leaning toward The Inner Circle because I like their Touch of Blessing song, but I don't want to get a whole album based on my appreciation of one song. I'm still trying to aquire a taste for the vocals, so the heavier the better probably, but then I'm also in the mood for some hooky melodies. Help a brutha out!

My favs in order from most liked to least liked... They are all good though.

Inner Circle
Torn (these first two are pretty much tied for 1st for me)
In Search of Truth
Recreation Day
Monday Morning Apocalypse

...i don't really listen to their first two albums anymore... just those 5

Decisions, decisions! Thanks for the input guys! I'll let you know what I go with. And yes, I'm impatient so I'll be using Itunes. :loco:

Nice dude. The good thing with The Inner Circle is that when you do finally get In search of truth and Recreation day, you'll be moving up into new levels of awsomeness.

TIC was good, but it was the start of Evergrey changing their writing style and it seemed that their albums weren't flowing quite like the old ones. The songs on their own are good, though.
Recreation day is good for a balance of great songs and album flow, ISOT is the most awsome as a whole album.

Damn, after spinning The Inner Circle about 3 and a half times in a row I wish I had more money to buy a couple more albums, haha. Oh well, it's good to know I have some albums on my wishlist and new music to look forward to. :kickass:

Ambassador is fucking awesome!!
I really like that album as well, im a lot into that style of music, Recreation day was the first album i buyed from them and i was so immerse into it, Blinded FTW!!

For me "INNER CIRCLE" clearly! It has the certain IT. Maybe "Recreation Day" has the better refrains, but for me personally inner circle is pure magic. I also appreciate the effort with all the great imbedded and real recorded string quartett moments. It´s one of my alltime faves!

I also love "In search of truth", but "TORN" and "Monday Morning Apocalypse" has not the same quality level of songwriting. Torn feels a bit uninspired (vocals, self copied arrangements) and MMA was an attempt to write some short Rocksongs..(let it be!!!!). EPIC is the right coat for Evergrey IMO.

@Uladyne, you can´t go wrong with:

-Recreation Day
-In search of truth
-Inner circle

But I think it´s an absolute individual feeling, what links me with "Inner Circle". I love this album so much!

I agree dude!

I like the tone better on "Recreation Day", but "Inner Circle" just moves me! "In Search of Truth" is close behind. I love the concept. I started reading the book "Communion" from which it is based, but haven't finished it. Supposedly it gives people horrible nightmares.

Grab the "A Night to Remember" dvd while you are at it. Not only is it a fantastic live show, but you get a massive bonus DVD of various tour and studio footage. Great value!

I love all 3 named albums. Evergrey is so fucking intense and emotional, directly at the border to be pathetic. They don´t overstep it IMO! And the singer is one of the best Metal singers of all time! I´m very enthusiastic about this Band. I just listen to "Rulers of the mind". What a GREAT song! "Communion" okay. I will definitivley grab this book, dude!
