Best film based on a comic?

The TMNT tv series was fantastic!!

As anyone seen Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm?? Based on the animated series, I thought it was a great movie!

Sydo, did you like The Phantom movie? I thought it was quite good, it wasnt a serious film and wont win any Oscars, but I thought it was very enjoyable, and funny as hell in some parts!

It was pretty well done, and in most respects pretty faithful to some of the older stories. Ypu've got to remember that The Phantom has been in print since the early 40's.. and movie itself was a script taken from 2 stories from around that time.

I hope that if they ever do another film, they pick a modern script and take it more seriously. But I doubt that'll happen as The Phantom has been out of print in the US for decades.

Yeah and the film bombing at the box office didnt help, I think it could make a really cool movie if they would go with the darker side of the Phantom story, and get Tim Burton to direct, he would come up with something cool

Hasnt there been over 1000 issues of The Phantom?
(I remember getting a huge 1000 celebration issue, it was like a phone book nearly, but I cant remember what the number was, I thought it may be 10000 but that sounds a bit ludicrous, so it must have been 1000, though even thats astounding, Supermans only up to the 700s! Maybe it was 10000 stories?)

Darker would be much better, and there are heaps of stories to chose from that would work.

They're currently up to about issue 1300 in Australia. They release an special every year which is about 300 pages long. Not bad value for $10.
There's a 100 pg special out this friday for $5.
