Best interface under a grand ?

Using PC, Cubase. Looking for the best Pre's and conversion in that price range. Maybe a Mackie Onyx 400? What do ya think?

I've got the Mackie 1200F, can't say enough good things about it really. I'd go with the 400 if it meets your budget and overall needs.

Onyx 400 as long as you don't need more than 10 simultaneous inputs! Otherwise I'd say Focusrite Saffire 26, or maybe one of the new Steinberg interfaces (those are unproven, though)

Its quality, I just don't need 8 pre's for the stuff I do atm. Can't fault it in anyway really, just a bit wasteful having it sat there.

From what I've heard the Steinberg interfaces have some driver issues that need to be resolved. That was just one thread on gearslutz though.. which is too bad, the feature set is great and they look slick. With a few more months they'd probably be a safe bet.
I'm enjoying my Mackie Onyx 400F though. Pretty solid little unit but I think I might be upgrading to something else right away.. something with ADAT. I might be interested in selling it for what I got it for.
