Best Intros! (and worst)

Absu - Tara
Agalloch - A Celebration For The Death Of Man
Bathory - Odens Ride Over Nordland

^ First three really good intros I came across through my playlist.

So many to name but i'll just give these for now. I love the intros CoB - Towards Dead end, Wintersun - Beyond the dark sun (sweeps = :kickass:) Turisas - As torches rise and Necrophagist - Seven.

Worst intors would include Ensiferum - Guardians of fate, imo it kinda fucks up an amazing song.

Phantom of the Opera - Iron Maiden
Walk - Pantera
The Call of Ktulu - Metallica

more later...

Lykathea Aflame - Elvernfris - Land Where Symapthy is Air

Moonsorrow's Voimasta ja Kunniasta intro, Tyven.

Nokturnal Mortum - Goat Horns - Black Moon Overture

I usually enjoy intros...only however, if the intro suits the style and mood of the album/band. Early Cradle of Filth albums, the intro's worked perfectly with the music. (Before they became cliche and used just for the purpose of having an intro).

I absolutely hate it when you hear a beautiful (atmospheric, mood indulging) intro, cleary produced, and then the next song is sloppy death metal with the ugliest, dullest production. To me intros like that serve no purpose on an album of that sort.

List time!

Death - Scavenger of Human Sorrow
Death - The Philosopher
Death - Trapped In A Corner
Dream Theater - Honor Thy Father
Opeth - April Ethereal
Opeth - Master's Apprentices
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Cryptopsy - Crown of Horns
Agalloch - Falling Snow
Morbid Angel - Dawn of the Angry
In Flames - Resin
Dark Tranquillity - Dry Run
Slayer - Postmortem

and most likely a few more that don't come to my mind atm.

Edit: Gorguts - Inverted
