Mustaine is the songwriting genious behind megadeth, but he's always had capable lead players to back him up.

The system has failed was going to be a Dave Mustaine solo record. The people who played on it (bar poland) were all session musicians. The album was only realesed under the name megadeth to fufill contractual obligations. Poland was never really back in megadeth.

Freidman was great but he was a fucking pussy.. He looked like he belonged with Poison when he was up on stage. Posing and making gay faces.. Also, he may be a master at guitar but he sucked for Megadeth. The more say he had in writing the music the worse the albums got. Seriously, they got weaker album by album until it was total pop with RISK.. Since he got the boot the albums have been getting better each time. Dave Mustaine is my pick....

Marty Friedman played the best solos in Megadeth and also was the best player, IMO. Mustaine is the ultimate Megadeth guitarist, though.

yeah defo marty, and i agree , cos of the rust in peace solo's....... musically as well he is defo the most varied of any of the megadeth musicians, he influences are all over the place, not surprising the later albums changed direction friedman is not that fussed about thrash really, shame cos he busts the hell out of solos over the top of the stuff his last solo album bordered on a dance album at points........
