Does anyone want to attempt to fill this in? Some states probably don't have many bands, while others have quite a few. I think that it would be interesting.

I included a list of all of the states in alphabetical order. I'll attempt it in a little while.

I don't have a single metal band rated on my RYM account from Wyoming, Arkansas, Idaho, South Dakota, Alabama, Vermont, or Maine. The only one I have rated from North Dakota is Thrash Queen.

EDIT: My only Alaskan metal rating is for a fifth-tier USPM band, whose debut album from 1993 I gave 1 star. I think I'll have to enforce a cut-off when making this list.

I made this thread because I find this to be a daunting task but I figured it would be good to collaborate and maybe get people interested in more music that they haven't heard. Thanks guys.

Seconding lost brain cells. I don't even enjoy probably a quarter of these bands. On the plus side, it's been years since I've done a thorough M-A search and I'm downloading a lot of new demo shit I either never heard of or that wasn't available online before, so hopefully some good will come of this.
