Ok.. I've once again reached the point where I can't hear anything to improve my mix. I haven't experienced that still I started.. and its definitely mostly due to the insanely talented musicians who played this.

Anyway, as much criticism as you can give me. This project brought my computer to its knees (100% CPU without vocals).. I had to do all vocal processing in another project and import the .wav file. I only finished tracking vocals 2 hours ago so there may be some issues, please point them out!

Apologies for the mutes, just don't want non-final things to get out. Its unmastered too.. it will be getting mastered by Slate () with his new FG-X plugin.

the vocals in the beginning seem fine with the effect you have on them but after that it seems like there a little too in front of the mix..other then that though everything sounds perfect....great mix man

sounds really goodman! however the vocal effect in the begining might sound better if it had a telephone filter on it. Please give some info on the bass it sounds amazing!

The vocals at the start do have telephone EQ on them. The singer had very soft consonants so any more telephoning and you can't understand what he's saying.

Will look again into the vocals.

Bass was split in 2: DI and Studio Devil Bass sim. I think they were then bussed together for some more compression and shit. Then that got sent to a bus with Juicy77 (for the distortion.. effectively 2 amp sims in series but it works), and IIRC another bus that was basically a bass guitar version of my vocal exciter. Then all of that together.. multiband compression, de-essing (keep it bright but not harsh on the high notes). Overall a FUCKLOAD of processing. But most of the tone was due to the guy's technique tbh.

Is it just me or is there one point where the volume on the vocals kind of cut out for a split second (within the first ten seconds of them coming in)?
I really like the bass playing!

The only thing I can really say is that the overall mix is a bit dry for me, I think it would help if there were some more reverb/delay/room sounds going on to open it up... but that's really just personal preference. I think the distorted guitars could be a little more aggressive and dirty. But it sounds really good. Everything comes together well.

Just curious, what CPU are you using?

Dunno, the vocals are a bit dry but everything else is pretty roomy. The drums have a LOT of room, the guitars have reverb on them all the time. Its just that everything is still in your face, which I like for this kind of music.

And CPU is a 2ghz Intel Duo. I need a new i7 computer.. amongst a million other things.

This sounds good. But the snare it´s too metal for this kind of music. The vocals sound kinda dry.

I personally love the snare. Kinda white-noise-ish but very punchy. I have no delay on the vocals, I'm gonna play around with that tomorrow and hopefully get them to sit a bit better.

The bass is REALLY nice, in fact that's the thing I like the most in all your mixes. i agree that the vocals are too upfront though. Maybe it's just me but I thinkthe snare sounds good, but kind of robotic.

One thing I don't like is the snare though. Sounds like the same pushed sample everytime.

Unfortunately it is just the one sample. I overwrote the project I used to make the sample.. I could have had like 6 or 7. Kicking myself, but the snare fits so well that I can't bring myself to change it.

Thanks so much, I also love the bass in this. I'm very much a drum and bass guy. Get those tones right, get some decent melodies going with the vocals and to me the guitars are the least important (although I'm sure 99% of the guys here would disagree). Drums and bass can influence the feel of a mix so much.. whereas I can count on my hand the number of albums that I feel the guitars really benefit the feel of the mix (besides just being a 'good tone').

I really like it man, i think its a great mix. my first thought was bring the kick up slightly maybe?

The kick should be perfectly audible in the verse, in the chorus you kinda need a sub to hear it. It's really tight in the lows but I didn't want it to stick out too much.

I imagine a warmer snare with more low mid pop and ring along with a wide room sound, think CLA style snare. Pretty good otherwise, vocals maybe a little far out. There's a guitar pop at the beginning at the intro that mastering will bring wayy out. You can hear it when the guitars stop for the little mute sections. I do a lot of this style and will make a recommendation that is more personal taste. Let the guitars come down everywhere cept the chorus. This will give your drums more breathing room and give a more jam vibe, this is of course, with a warmer snare. Sounding good dude! Bass is killer.

Gross, this music is so white  Sounds good Morgan, but I can barely hear the kick at all, not punching nearly enough for this style of very rhythmic-focused music IMO Snare is good but could use a boost around 1-1.5k IMO to add more pop, and could come up a bit IMO. Also, IMO for slap bass I'd prefer a bit less grit on the tone. Sounds good overall man!
